Title: Rescue remedy - dosage for cats?
Post by: Tiggy's Mum on November 26, 2007, 20:41:52 PM
Lukey is still very nervous after his fright, have got some rescue remedy and I'm sure Ela says 4 drops in the water but also mentioned putting it on the back of the ears.

Does anyone know how many drops to put on the ears?  The human directions say 4 drops on the tongue but obviously Lukey only weighs around 4kg (guesstimate) so would guess much less than 4 drops should be given?

I thought it was just one behind each ear, but will have to go searching. Give me 2 secs!

My views on this product being well-known, I shall only remark that it comes in an alcohol carrier, which may be a factor in your calculations, Helen

Just read back and can only find a couple posts from Susanne and Lesley saying rub some behind their ears. Maybe weight and age should factor, I'd only put a drop maybe shared between both ears?  See how that goes and if necessary increase from there? Or maybe Lesley or T can offer guidance.

Give him a cuddle from me xx

:thanks: Ruth, I might PM Teresa as I'm sure she has used it before so want to be certain before I put it on him.

I'm not normally into herbal remedies either Christine but it can't do any harm, he's better today than he was yesterday but he's still very nervous - I just want my cheery, confident little boy back  :shy:

I don't think I was too fussy about how many drops.  I just tipped some onto my finger and rubbed it behind Jaffa's ears.  He's still here to tell the tale.

I have it on good authority that the normal 'dosage' is...  two tiny drops on each outer ear.  Two drops have been rubbed in, fingers crossed it works  :)

Anyone got any ideas how often you can reapply?

I use one drop on the ears, and 2 in food.

How is your little soldier today, Helen?

Just caught up with this thread.  I used to put two drops behind each ear once a day, and then a couple of drops in water once a day as well.  It definitely helped Stella when she first came here, and I find it quite beneficial as well  :)

How is your little soldier today, Helen?

He's much improved, still a bit nervous but he just had a major purring/rub my head/rub my tummy session and even let out a few of his annoying 'mewls' - he's normally quite vocal but had been silent since his 'ordeal'!

Thumbs up for the rescue remedy, obviously an improvement would have been expected each day without RR but the change in him is a big step, knowing how long it took him to get over the 'monster in the freezer' I have to say I'm pretty impressed with RR  :wow:
