Late last night at around midnight I heard the most terrible screaming, Lukey raced into the living room and I ran in the opposite direction towards the noise. It was a cat noise and sounded like a hideous high pitched screaming mixed in with low wailing and hissing. I ran into the spare bedroom to find Riley with both front paws trapped in the holes of a fire guard. With the noise he was making I was certain that one, if not both legs were broken so I ran to get a towel so I could immobilise him as soon as I'd got him free. Just as I got back into the room he managed to wriggle himself free, he flopped down, waved his tail angrily then started racing around being his naughty, cheeky self, jumping on and in things he shouldn't - no broken legs after all! I checked his feet carefully and one toe looked a bit swollen but he was happy for me to squeeze and pull each one so no lasting damage.
Went back in the living room to find Lukey, terrified, cowering in a ball shaking in the corner. He wouldn't come out for treats and stayed there for over an hour, when he finally did come out he is now terrified of the hallway where the bedroom is. Luckily he's not scared of Riley but is petrified of the slightest noise, he spent all last night awake with big scaredy cat eyes (I was up most of the night checking on him!). He wouldn't eat a bedtime snack last night or breakfast this morning but has finally had some tea. He's walking around with his belly low to the ground, tail between his legs, looking nervously around before jumping at the slightest noise.
I just feel so sorry for him, he had the exact same upbringing as Riley so I don't know what makes him so sensitive. Riley was the one that was trapped but he got over it in less than a minute! Lukey's normally such a confident little thing, although he's the quieter and more well behaved out of them both he's still confident, especially with visitors - he's such a little tart. Luckily I'm off for a few days so can try and build his confidence back up.

poor boys!! what a horrible experience. Hope Riley stays well and that Lukey gets over his fright. Time to bring out the feliway and rescue remedy again. (good thing you got a good stock in ). It was probably the noise as much as anything, Some cats are just more sensitive to certain pitches of noise than others, and having the fire guard rattling around chasing Riley would have been pretty scary too!!!
-
oh little angel darling....... oh i so want to give him a very quiet hug
sounds very traumatic for you too helen  glad riley is ok, and hope sweetums lulu comes round with lots and lots of huggies from his mummy xxxx so pleased he's not scared of riley though, that would be awful x
-
Ahh poor babies.
Lucas would have been scared by the noise Riley was making ... and as it probably isn't a cry he has heard before he wouldn't have known it was his brother so he is probably terrified that whatever was making the noise could still be loose in the house.
I sure a few good squirts of cat nip spray and feliway will bring him round.
Glad Riley is is OK and big hugs to both boys  :Luv2: :Luv2: :Luv2:
-
Oh poor Lukey, I'm sure he just had a big fright at all the dramatic screaming from Riley (poor boy too, although it sounds as though he's soon got over it :evillaugh: ) I'm sure he'll be fine once he's got over the shock.
-
Bless his little heart. to all of you. I am sure with a few cuddles and just normalcy in the house he'll be back to normal in no time.
-
Poor babies, hope they are all recovered and over the shock today xxx
-
Poor little men, hope they feel better soon :ahh:
-
Poor Boys :(
I'm sure they will both be fine
-
Poor little sausages! Hope Lucas gets over his fright soon!
-
Aw, poor boys, hope they both get over their fright quickly :Luv:
-
oh noooo... poor boys!!! no wonder they got such a fright!!!!!!
Glad to hear though that they are OK and hope that nerves settle quickly! xxxx sending big furry head butts your way! ;) xx
-
Poor boys and so pleased that Riley is not hurt and awwwwww Lucas come on relax, everything is alright now :ahh:
It must have been a terrible moment for you too
-
Aww bless him.
Spike is still petified of Da Bird and it was Taz who went smack into the table not him :tired:
-
:thanks: everyone for all your good wishes :shy: I've been liberally spraying Feliway since it happened but he's still petrified :( He's on the top of their scratcher at the moment, I think he feels safe up there but he can't stay there forever!

I think you've hit the nail on the head there Sam, I've heard cat fights before and know what they sound like but this was no cat fight - the noise was so horrific my first thought was that a dog or another creature must have got in the house somehow and was attacking Riley. When I found him I was convinced his legs were broken, the noise was terrifying - I was almost scared to look what was making it :evillaugh: I guess he takes after me in the hypochondriac stakes!
Here's my two little soldiers just a few minutes ago....

Poor boys and poor you!!! You must have been frightened to death :cuddle: :cuddle: :cuddle:
-
Oh dear me your title really got me worried, I am glad that Riley was okay, but seems like poor Lukey was for the worse in the end!! Bless him! Perhaps Riley has got a bit of a drama queen in him and got carried away with it :evillaugh:, scaring poor Lukey (and you as well) to death!! I hope Lukey will pull himself together soon, it's a good thing you can stay with them for a couple of days!!
  to both of them, and  you too!! (and don't forget to sort out that hole of the fire guard in some way to avoid further mishap!!)
-
Poor little souls (that includes you Helen) I do hope everyone is now recovering
-
How's Lukey doing today?
-
He's still very nervous but a bit better than yesterday, a friend was over tonight and said 'Why does he keep staring at me like that' I told him about Lu's traumatic experience and he said 'But he's looking at me like I was the one that traumatised him' - seriously, if looks could kill my friend would have been dead :evillaugh: Have put some rescue remedy on his ears tonight so hope that calms him down a bit.
LuLu says :thanks: for asking :shy:
-
:ahh: poor baby he'll settled down in time.
Foxy and Rossi send lots of kitty kisses (Zephyr just says he should stop being a wuss ... but what would you expect from a boy! )
-
Aw bless him  Poor boys! I hope the little lad gets over his shock soon. With Jaffa and Magpie, Jaffa was always the timid, nervous one. When they went to the cattery together, Magpie would hiss at the other cats and Jaffa got very upset because he thought Magpie was hissing at him since he was nearest. It was probably a similar situation with Lukey being freaked out by Riley's reaction to getting his legs trapped.
Give them both a cuddle from me.
-
I have managed to miss this somehow :-[
Hope Lukey is beginning to calm down again now
-
poor babies, Oscar and Algie were just the same, brothers but Algie was full of confidence and poor Oscar is scared of his own shadow!
-

Well Riley is and always was fine, his slightly swollen toe had returned to normal size by the morning. Lukey is still a bit nervous but is much improved (thanks to Rescue Remedy I believe) he has spent most of the day on the top of his tower though. I tried to cheer him up by giving him a new feather...
If LuLu won't come to the feather, the feather will come to LuLu :)

This one just makes me laugh, I rounded up all their little mice and imprisoned them in a takeaway tub. Being the cruel Mum that I am I trapped the tails of the mice outside the tub :evillaugh:

And the tub had to be transparent, too :evillaugh:
Glad to see the boys are doing better!! :Luv:
-
Lol Helen, you're such a tease
<thinks, where have I got a clear tub so I can do that for Maxy boy> :evillaugh:
-
;D at the box of mice! Great idea
I hope the boys are having lots of dairylea blobs to help them get over their respective traumas.
-
Lucas is back to business :wow: He's still been a bit jumpy the past few days despite the RR and Feliway but this morning he biffed Riley with his paw and is making a very annoying noise as it's well past his breakfast time and the bowl has not appeared. I missed my little boy but he's back ;D
Lol Helen, you're such a tease

I know it will be traumatic for you but you'll have to get a Chinese takeaway :drool; That's what they come in!
-
So glad the boys are alright now ;D What lovely pictures ;D
-
Well, time is the best healer of all :Luv: glad that normal service has been resumed
-
Yey, you go boy Lukey!! Now while she is so chuffed, take an advantage and enjoy doing your mischieves :evillaugh:
-
Glad you are both feeling better. Your mum is reeeeely sneeky with that box. Hope mine doesn't see it Love Ollie
-
Aw glad to hear the boys are picking up....how scarey for you all
-
YAYYYYYYYY glad he's better :Luv:
Riley is cute but LuLu just has something about him I love,I've never met him but I know I couldn't be mad at him for 1 minute :Luv2:
-
I missed this somehow ... glad everything is ok Helen. Bertie's a bit of a sensitive soul too ... if any of the other two ever gets upset about anything (Frontline, trips to the vet etc), he holds a grudge against me for waaaaay longer than they do! ;D
-
Glad to hear the little feller's back to his rscally ways ;) ;D
