My big old girl Roxy is not doing so well, she is a huge Coonie and is nearly 18 now but still my big baby.
She has got inoperable tumours and now it seems that her back legs are getting really weak, it breaks my heart to see her like this but she is not in any pain and is still eating/drinking and has the odd play with the young ones. I suppose the best description would be the "Matriarch" (sp)
I think that maybe deep down I am preparing myself for the inevitable, but can you really prepare?

Ooh Roxy what an incredible old girl. Lots of love and luck to you and I hope you feel better soon. My vet recommended Arthri Aid for my Dragan's weak back legs. He is 17 by the way. No I don't think anything can prepare you for that dreadful decision time but just try to enjoy the time you have with your old lady and spoil her rotten though I am sure I don;t need to say that :care:

I dont think anything prepares you for last act of kindness  I feel for you as knowing the time is comming isnt easy, just enjoy the time you have together and try not to think about it too much

Roxy sounds a great elder lady and enjoy the rest of your time together so you never look back and think , I wish

Thanks all, dont know whats wrong with me today, just feeling a little low and she gave me such big loves and cuddles this morning that I think it really hit home just what an old lady she is.

Lots and lots of love and hugs to you and your wonderful old girl - sending positive vibes that she is with you for a good while yet   Whatever happens, you know she is a happy, well loved girl to have made it to 18 and still want to play - you know her well enough to tell when she tells you she's had enough, but hopefully she isn't there yet. Take care, and you know we are all here for you :Luv2: :care: :care:

Sorry Sheryl, there is no way of preparing. You know your baby well enough to know if and when
-
I dont think you can truly prepare, but at least you are aware of the situation and can spend as much quality time together as possible, it is a lot harder when it is unexpected. Fingers crossed you get a lot of quality time.

So sorry Sheryl have only just noticed this thread how is Roxy doing now lots of love and  xx

Thanks Felix, she is still plodding along but sleeping most of the day, she had a wander round the garden this morning but everything seems to take her twice as long these days. We are just cherishing each day with her.
