Title: Looking for a cat sitter in the Greenock, Scotland area.
Post by: CallieSkye on November 21, 2007, 18:05:13 PM
Hi, I've been reading through all the posts I could find regarding cat sitters. I've found quite a few people who have the same separation anxiety I do! :) I know I'm over thinking it, but I just want my cat to be loved while I'm away. I have a great friend who she normally stays with when we go away but she's living with her in-laws at the moment and can't cat sit, and she's also to far away to pop in on a daily basis. I tried asking my husbands parents but they're very anti-animal. They don't hate her as such, the just dread the thought of her touching them!

I've looked at all the big agency websites such as guardian angels, petpals, etc. but none of them cover the Glasgow area. There are also relatively few catteries in the area. It took me forever to find one I was okay with and she's been to that one once.. but since I didn't know I would need to put her in one this Christmas I didn't prebook and they're completely full.

Does anyone know of any cat sitters in the Greenock (Inverclyde) area?

Thanks so much for your help!

 :welcome: to Purrs  ;D

I think many of us have the same problem as you and I wish we had time travel so we could help each other out. I went to Greenock, well passed through, many many years ago and hope that you find someone who can help.

Have you tried your local vets, they should know of someone or you sometimes find vet nurses will do it. Make sure you get reccomendations on whoever you use.

Thanks for the warm welcome guys!

I just don't understand this area of Scotland. It seems to be a blackspot for all animal related fields. When I wanted a kitten I couldn't find ANY at any of the nearby shelters, I had to drive over 2 hours away just to get one. I wanted to volunteer at some of the shelters but there's a waiting list to even BE a volunteer.  And now none of the national pet sitting companies will even think about coming out here. It's all very strange.

Thanks for the luck, it looks like I'm going to need it!

Milly's Mum I'll try calling my vets tomorrow and see if they have any suggestions. I was NOT impressed when I called to ask about a cattery. They gave me one place and it was horrible. Really rundown looking and not even well heated! They had one rusted looking space heater at one end of the cattery... it doesn't lend confidence to the suggestions the surgery makes!

Hey guys, I've been away for ages!! Just recently got back from my vacation home and realized I'd been neglecting the site.

I wanted to let you guys know that I finally sorted some arrangements for Leeloo right before I left. A friend of a friend told me he'd watch her and that although he hasn't had a cat for ages he adores them. There were lots of ups and downs.. (he changed his mobile and house number in the middle of my vacation and neglected to tell me!!) but everyone made it through just fine. Leeloo was in bright spirits the day I got her back and didn't seem badly affected by her trip away. (other than hiding under the bed when it looked like we were getting ready to go out - I'm sure she was worried we'd take her away again.)

I just wanted to let any of you worry-worts out there know (who are exactly like me!) these little kitties of ours are more resilient than we think. So if anyone out there is going through the panic I was, take a deep breath and breathe. Things will sort themselves out.

Thanks for the help guys :)
