Title: sox has a sore nose advice
Post by: furballmom on November 18, 2007, 19:07:47 PM
Hi guys
Sox is nearly 4 months  just need a little advice
a couple of weeks after we got him we noticed his nose was becoming dry and cracked but it cleared up. Well its come back again and showing no signs of clearing up. he sneezes a couple of times a day and he gets what i can only assume as snot stuck to it which has to be pulled of as it gets stuck to his nostrils.
When ever i touch his nose he flinches so i can only assume its sore i asked the vet about it when we took him and Patch for there second round of jabs at the beginning  of November and they said it may be an allergy . he has a great appetite and runs round the place like a thing possessed
is there anything i can do to help improve his nose ?
Should i talk to the vet again as it shows no sign of improvement leaving it to clear up on its own this  time. Could it be something more serious
 :thanks:
Helen

Would still get him vet checked incase he needs antibiotics, but vaseline is excellent for sore noses and bottoms. Just make sure you don`t block his little nostrils up with it.

funny you should say that, I was going to mention that.

Zubin had a dry crusty nose when he was a kitten, I just put a tiny dab of vaseline on it to help it.

Vaseline would be what i'd use too, i'd also have it checked out.

Also if you bathe the snot off instead of pulling it, use cotton wool and warm water  ;D

just to update sox's nose has been fine for a few months now its lovely pink and moist i think this may have something to do with the fact he has stopped playing with the water and is now drinking it now if i can only get him to do the same with the biscuits
