I'm struggling with Gwyn's name! - the full name is Gwyngala, which is Cornish for September (because she comes from Cornwall and I got her in September) which I like the idea of - has some meaning etc, but - it aint half difficult to say! I tend to call her Gwynnie or Gwyn, but even those arent easy on the tonque I find. Most of the time I call her 'Kitty' LOL!, because everytime I came in the door when I first got her , I'd call her with - kittty, kitty, kitty!
Her 'official' name will always be Gwyngala, but I want to choose another name to actually 'talk' to her with LO! I was thinking either stick with Kitty (oh how original!) or maybe Ginnie, or Gillie (thats Gillie with a hard G - we don't want to be Gillian and Jilly LOL!!) - like Hayley Mills as the little girl Gillie in Tiger Bay (oh I know, showing my age again!!)
Its either that or think of something completely different from any of those, dunno, just thinking out loud really! :-:
-
how about 'gorgeous'? Cos she is :Luv:
-
hmmmmm a new name.................I will think but now distracted cos Franta bit meeeee grrrrrrrrrr.
-
Do you really find it hard to call, i have just been saying it and think i'd be inclined to say gwynnie but i'd keep it coz its a lovely name :)

Yeh I do Lynn - I think its that GW sound together, I thought - take away the W and Ginnie or Gillie is easier - say those and see what you think! LOL! I like to think that you all sat there going....ginnie, ginnie, ginnie, gillie, gillie, gillie, gwynnie................. :evillaugh:

OK, don't know about you, but I am having visions of purrs members all around the country sitting at their computers chanting Gwennie, Gillie, Ginni to themselves. The men in white jackets will be working overtime methinks

LOL!  (actually I like your spelling of Ginni without the E on the end)

I'm not being funny but GW rolls far easier off my tongue than GI :-:
My mums male cat is called "gilly"
-
I know it has got nothing whatsoever to do with "Gwyndala" but if I ever saw her I can imagine myself nicknaming her "sparkles", as her signature ear whisker reminds me a bit of sparklers (is that how they are called? those tiny baby versions of fireworks, handheld one not the explode in the sky ones...)
Also "Piccola", too, Italian for "tiny" and it has a lovely lilt to its sound. Only problem is that probably she won't remain so "piccola" for too long!! :evillaugh:
-
Love Piccola, shortened to Cola ;D

How about Sparky then? for her ear sparklers - possible, although I think of that more as a boys name? The ear whiskers are called tufts - maybe Tufty? LOL!
Piccola I like - but not sure if it suits her - but don't really know now what suits her LOL!
-
I've got used to her being called Gwyn now. I always wanted my cats named after show girls so they were supposed to be Tilly, Lola and Tallulah but I've ended up only with a Tilly because the other two were ruled out! Best not ask me she'll end up sounding like a lady of the night!
-
I tend to say Gwen as im not sure how to pronounce Gwyn  think they sound similar, must be the scottish accent
-
How well you know us all BC. I WAS sitting here mumbling the variations to myself. I'm expecting the white coats any minute
-
You could always name her Gwen :shify: :evillaugh:
-
bobsmum i pronounce gwyn as "gwin" and its actually a pleasant name to physically say for me (how daft does that sound, i hope you know what i mean  )
Gwen i like your thinking :evillaugh: Oh what the hell lets just go for Lynn
-
I like Gwyn! Like Lynn, I fnd it easy to say. But she's not my cat so it has to be something you find rolls off the tongue easily, Gillian. I will find it difficult to get used to another name, but I will! Like Helen's Lucas ;) Can't imagine him as Kali now ;D
-
I've said it before and I'll say it again - how about Kali? I've been trying to convince people to call their furless and furred babies Kali ever since my little girl was cruelly taken from me and replaced with a boy :evillaugh:

LOL! I do like that Helen, do you say it Kally or Kar-ly?
I also thought of Kaycee/KC/Casey (like the first spelling or initials best) - what about that?
-
KC is nice but like Cola or Fizz myself
-
I like your idea Gillian "Tufty", seriously!! It's definitely her!! :wow:
"Sparky" is cute too me thinks, I often like boyish name on girls, especially if they are a bit of tomboy. But Tufty is good, I like it!! ;D

It's pronounced like Sally with K at the beginning. Lucas would be honoured if you did decide to call her Kali, no pressure though ;)

Ah, ok thought it was said that way - still thinking about names.

She looks like a Cindy (cinderella) to me :Luv:

That one was on my list funnily enough - as was Lindy or Mindy (as in Mork and Mindy - anyone remember that? - oh before your time I know! ;) )
-
Oh she actually could look like an lindy (and i amnt saying that coz its my name LOL)
minute i read it, yes i can just picture her called that very well.
