Title: New Maine Coon Kitten
Post by: Parée on November 16, 2007, 18:06:40 PM: We went and chose our new kitten on Wednesday night, we have called him Beau he is 4 weeks old, we can bring him home on the 20th January when he is 14 weeks, hope you like the photos

I've never been a pedigree cat type person but have fallen in love with the Bengal breed and now Maine Coons too. Waiting until the 20th Jan for him is going to be agony, I don't envy you :evillaugh:

4-5 weeks is usual time when Breeders allow people to first view the kittens. There are precautions put in place of course not least of which is dont go visit more than one breeder on any particular day as well as limiting any handling of the kittens until they are a little bigger.

That last pic shows his colour well, though in different light conditions he looks darker.

He is just so lovely ! I remember going to see Leo at that age.. I fell in love immediately !

He is 6 months now & HUGE !

I bet you are so excited about picking him up.. He looks very alike Leo did when he was that age...

Post by: DaveD on December 13, 2007, 16:09:34 PM: I'm even more convinced than ever that Pimpernel's a Maine Coon, he looked just like that! Does Beau keep his claws in when play fighting? Pimpernel did, and I now don't think I needed to train him not to play fight with hands. He still doesn't scratch me, unless he's frightened, usually by strangers.

No he doesn't have his claws out, and when my other Maine Coons play fight they don't either I think if they did we would be ton to bits with the size of their paws

Post by: lucy on December 13, 2007, 20:37:22 PM: I wish Xanthe kept her claws to herself - it is only in play as she never scratches when I am actually annoying her (eg by bathing her to depoo her!) but you know when she has had a swipe at you! I have tried to keep discouraging her, she is getting a bit better so hopefully once she is past nutty kitten stage she may be a bit more gentle.

Post by: Parée on January 15, 2008, 21:00:35 PM: The days are not going quick enough But then the fun starts with introducing him to the other cats, I know how 3 of them will be, but have no idea how Merlin will take to him, but I will do it the same way I did it when bringing them together for the first time, I will keep him in the hall for 3 days and then bring him in, in the big dog pen into the lounge so they can see him but not get to him

This is Beau’s favourite position, he comes and finds me and tells me I have to go and sit down, because he wants a cuddle, I think if he had his way I would sit down all day long LOL
