That is a lovely story but I feel that Podge maybe suffering from the early stages of dementia. I had a similar routine with my cat although she did not go so far, I used to retrieve her from my neighbours garden on a regular basis.

I saw that news item too. At least Podge is going across the golf course to get to his pick-up point and the golf course must be deserted at night, of people at least.

The only reason I will not get a NFC (wow aren't they gorgeous) is that they are terrible wanderers from what I've read and I prefer to allow our lot indoor/outdoor access.
I just don't understand how it has taken him 12 years to display this wandering behaviour. Anyone on here got an NFC that they let roam free? Sorry this story didn't make me even smile.

One of my friends has got one that is allowed to free roam and it wanders off into the fields etc often for more than a day but he always comes back and usually kindly brings a present home with him :sick:. Personally I would never let an NFC free roam. Catrun or enclosed garden makes them happy as they can go outdoors and makes human happy as they know the cat is safe.
I do hope the Podge's contract states he's allowed outside otherwise if the breeder sees the story they'll quite rightly go potty!

I think what made me laugh, Rosella, was the lengths we all go to in order to keep our cats happy ... but no, the actual idea of the cat being allowed to roam free didn't make me smile at all. Minnie used to be a terrible wanderer and I'm afraid that I've really clamped down on her access to the outdoors, especially now that I've learned she's partially sighted so is in real danger of being knocked down. We've gone from her regularly disappearing for 7-10 days five months ago to her now only going out for two hours a day. I can't say she seems any less happy!

Hope you didn't think I was casting nastursums just really fed up that I won't allow myself an NFC and :censored: off that someone that's got one doesn't realise the dangers of them wandering far and wide. I hate fingerwagging but, if I had an NFC, I couldn't sleep at night if he were out even tho my lot are free to come and go. NFC's really are different.
In any event just coz the owner turns up at the same time and place and finds him there, who's to say he hasn't been there waiting for hours. Oh dear, what a grump I am. :sneakin:

I saw Podge and his owner on BBC Breakfast this morning. That cute Vet said he thought Podge might have senile dementia - as per my original prognosis :shocked:

Lottie - podge was originally a stray so wont have papers or contract, it was said today on brekkie news.
