just trimmed marys claws Didn't think they were that long i was woken up by a almighty noise her paw was stuck in the sofa looked like she had done it climbing down. world war 3 broke out but needs must she had a good bit of cat nip first :sneaky:
How often do you do your cats and do you do it yourselves or go to vets etc ?
-
I do all my lot every 3 weeks or so - thats 22 paws! - (I don't do the back ones very often) I just use the large human toenail clippers. Most of mine are ok about it, the persians just sit their holding their paws up for me LOL! ;D

Billy Whiz's claws were clipped once by vet (I'm no fool) when Freddie first came over a year ago as I was worried that they were not getting on (putting it mildly). Vet did Freddie's at same time. Tom's (elderly) get clipped rarely, just if I notice them getting caught. I have done him myself last few times with 1 of 2 pair of clippers I bought years ago but chickened out of using until last year. All our 3 have access to outdoors, don't know if that makes a difference.

I brood over this issue very often, however it is another question when or if I ever get up the nerve to give it a go. When Oliver is relaxed enough he lets me fiddle with his paw, I can gently squeeze out his claw as well. But I have that nasty feeling the very first (and to be the last ever) "snap" of the nail clip will suddenly change everything.
I could try catnip, but I have a bit of doubt, as it casted exactly the opposite effect on Hobbes, it made him a jumping runnning mad beast!!
I would like to know how Gillian got her furries to cooperate!!

My two get their front claws trimmed every 2-3 weeks. If I don't trim them they catch on things like curtains and the sofa throw (esp Jaffa). They also spend a fair bit of time rolling in around in play fighting and I dont' want them to hurt each other, so like the claws trimmed.
-
I check mine weekly, and generally have to clip them every 2-3 weeks. I find it more important as they are oldies, and despite having scratch posts, they dont use them a lot, and the current fosters aren't, so they are important as they are obviously indoor only. Think that is one of tomorrows jobs to be honest.

Hamish and Misty used to get their Claws trimmed every now and then, especially when they'd jump on you and you'd wince
with pain  or to try and make your new settee last a little bit longer :evillaugh:
over the year's I used to Massage their feet and with time they got used to me manipulating them :evillaugh:
Hamish's Claw's were extreemly sharp ( they were like needle's ) but I used to laugh when I did His because he'd like
open His paw even more and push down fully extending his claw's :wow: Misty was always more relaxed :tired:
But I still remember the expression's on their faces when I started clipping for the very first time :-: wtf ?? :shify: I'm watching you :briggin:
Here is a photo of one of my freind's finding out the hard way Just how sharp Hamish's Claws were
I can still hear the scream today
