I got the boys a radiator bed when they were kittens, I left it in the cupboard as they seemed to do such a good job of ignoring any 'proper' cat beds. I got it out when I turned the heating on and Riley fell in love with it, the problem I have now is that Lukey has just discovered it (after over a month of it being out) and is currently fast asleep in it blissfully unaware of the problem this creates!
It's not big enough for both of them and for various reasons there are no other suitable radiators in my house to put a second one up, also I don't like the idea of one of them being banished to the spare room while the other snuggles near their Mum. I was wondering if a double radiator bed or bunk style radiator bed exists? Have done a search but couldn't find anything. Has anyone seen one in the shops or online?
-
Never seen one. btu then I have never looked. Couldn't you put another on the other end of the radiator?
-
No room for a second bed on the same radiator?
I'd go for a snuggly bed on a box underneath it, failing other options - that's nearly as good! ;D
-
The radiator's not quite big enough for a second one, the radiator is 80 cm and the bed is about 50cm :(
-
Helen the one I have for Lexy is big enough for two, its sturdy so it won't put pressure on the bed or the radiator. If it can hold Lexy, it can hold both boys comfortably. Otherwise get two that can sit side by side if you have a radiator that is long enough? If not, not sure there is anything new out there? I have the cat tree and radiator bed together so Lexy has a choice of sleeping on the platform of the tree or moving onto the bed.
-
Hmmmmm a radiator bed, I wonder if that would stop Franta and Misas problem cos one could be by radiator the otherside of me, how far do they stick out cos there has to be room for my chair LOL
-
Im thinking of getting my 2 one as for some reason they love laying on the radiator and this will be a roblem when i turn the heating on

Thanks Ruth but have you seen how long Riley is? :evillaugh: When I hold him lengthways in my arms I struggle to get through doors, he's so long that I can't hold him upright like a normal cat as my arms aren't long enough so his legs just dangle down!
Riley has just, begrudgingly, got in his purple spotty bed that they had from babies, maybe it'll encourage him to use it a bit more!
Gill, mine sticks out 35 cm - Lexy's one looks a slightly different style to mine, mine is more like a hammock - less rigid.
Here's Riley in it the other day...

My goodness dont you have the heating on? I am freezing here.
-
Mine's the PAH 2 in 1, if you take if off the radiator and flop it around it turns into a sofa for the floor :evillaugh:
Its about 50cm wide. Its pretty sturdy.
It extends out about the same but the curve makes it look smaller.

Ive had it on but ive had to drag the kittens of it too many times and as i dont want them burning there feet ill just freeze instead

Kylie used to sit 1/2 on the sofa back and 1/2 on a red-hot radiator at the old house
-
What is it with cats?! Lexy would climb into the fire place if I let her!
-
I now have to shut them out of the kitchen when im cooking because the other day i went to get something out of the oven and tiggy tried to climb in there >:( I also have to check the washing machine before i turn it on as pippin likes to get in there
-
I dont have 50 cms of space for it to stick out into grrrrrrrrr and Franta is only a small cat
-
How I wish I had radiators, Max would love one of those :Luv:

oh milly >:( >:( >:(
-
Blimey !,
If I got a radiator bunk bed the combined weight of Alfie and Frankie would have the radiator off of the wall ;D
Cheers
Leigh
-
ahh now thats a point and just misa or sasa may do the same!
-
Well I reckon that Frankie must be at least 15lbs and Alfie's about a couple of pounds lighter so, in my language, that's the equivalent of hanging 14 bags of sugar from it !. ;D
Cheers
Leigh
-
Misa is 6kgs plus and Sasa just under
-
I'm no builder or plumber but I don't think radiator warranties cover that sort of thing in fact nowdays warranties hardly seem to cover the purpose for which an item is designed let alone non-approved usage
-
I want one for Xanthe but I'm worried about the walls too - OK now but a full grown maine coon?

Thanks MM, not overly keen on the look of that big one but the 'Criss-cross cat bed' that's above it looks like it could go under the current bed to make a bunk bed and would still have the hammocky feel and warmth of the radiator :wow: Will have to work out the measurements to see if it will fit under but looks promising :)

Is this any good Helen? Was prowling the cat beds on EBay (even though we already have nine for four cats!) and found this:
