Title: Is it a coincidence?
Post by: Déborah on November 17, 2006, 11:33:49 AM
I know about cats knowing when you're sad or in pain and comforting you, but I'd like your thoughts on this:
last night I had bad abdominal pain and couldn't sleep. My kitten came to bed with me, spent 5 minutes staring at me and then came under the duvet, curled up right against my stomach and started to purr. She had never slept like that before. The heat and vibrations really helped with the pain.
So here's my question: do you think she knew? ??? Or is that a bit far-fetched? She's not even 3 months old yet! Is it a coincidence?

I am sure some cats and indeed other animals do know far more than we think.

I'm sure they do know.? That's really sweet - and so much better than a nurofen!

whilst on one hand i do agree animals certainly have some type of 6th sense i am also fairly cynical and would take intp consideration that you were probably actiing differently and also dont know about where you were but there was a really hard frost here last night so was colder, i let cody through to my bed and he too slept all night under the duvet which is the first time since we've had him that he's done that.  ??? ???

I honestly think some do know.  If Im ill Tilly is like a nurse and never leaves my side.  Ollie on the other hand is a typical male and only notices me when he wants feeding.   ;)

I'm in Scotland but it wasn't as cold in the room as usual, as I've stopped sleeping with the window open lol! She often sleeps under the duvet, but normally at my feet and last night, because it was warmer, she slept on top of the duvet apart from this episode.

Well, whether she meant to help me or not, she's a lovely kitty!

I think they sense when you are ill or in pain and Kocka used to come and check me out or lie on the bed with me.

I firmly believe cats are highly intuitive and can tell when you need cuddles or attention. Obviously the times they mill around you and you DON'T, then it probably means they do! :)

Aw, bless  ;D

I think they do know, Max will normally sleep by my feet, but sometimes if I've got tummy pains, he'll curl up under the duvet next to me and stay there for ages ..... not something he usually does to be honest, normally I get a 2 minute cuddle and he's off again lol!
