Title: Why did I bother
Post by: puddypaws on October 27, 2007, 19:24:45 PM
When we got Ollie and Portia I bought them a lovely scratching post with a mouse on and everything.  It is placed a few feet away from the sofa, so can someone explain why Ollie totally ignores it and merrily strops his claws up the sofa arm.  I wouln't mind so much except when I tell hin "no" he deliberately does it again and he is laughing!  I did tell him I'd swap him for a guinea pig, but I don't think he cares.  Little :censored:

He's scent marking the sofa ... Zephyr does it to mine.

You can get some stuff called "sticky paws" which you can put on the are they scrath which deters them as they don't like the feel of it.  I, on the other hand, am too tight to invest in sticky paws and simply use double sided tape  ;) It really does work.

My Hamish always Clucked the furniture, Misty is half n half
I have 7 settee's under my belt >:( but i was lucky cause most of them were from friends and relatives
paid for 1, and that was only £40
am on my third living room carpet, which has withstood the onslaught well, still a lot of pulled bit's though
which was all Hamish's Handy work :'(
but Misty's claw's arent so sharp  :evillaugh:
Do your babes like catnip?? thats how I got Misty to Start using the scratch post, Hamish was one of the
few without the catnip gene and was never interested in anything with catnip

Rub the catnip into the post ;) see if that helps

I'm going to have a go with the double sided tape as I have some of that.  As he hasn't forgiven me for the vet visit, you may find him on your doorstep with his belongings in a spotted hanky, telling you about the terrible woman he had to live with, who wouldn't let little cats ruin the sofa!
