Title: Do your older cats have favourite winter spots?
Post by: JackSpratt on October 25, 2007, 13:24:15 PM
Old Mog seems to have remembered the giant wicker basket with a fleece in. I don't think I've seen her in that since this time last year. I'm assuming it's because it's in the corner and so possibly in a less drafty place than some of the other beds. Was wondering if anyone elses cats seem to prefer places according to season?

Our eldest, Penguin likes to curl up on the bed 95% of the day.

When it’s night he’s either on the computer chair or at the top of the stairs. This will be his first English winter!

I may have to knit him paw warmers.

Yup, anywhere that's close to one of the warm air vents!  Typically he curls up in the 2nd bedroom, there's always a pile of J's clothes all over the floor anyway, so he snuggles up on them in the corner  :Luv:

Portia has discovered that just by the radiator is a nice spot - don't think she'd come across one before.  Ollie hasn't cottoned on yet, but to be honest (and I love him so much) he isn't the brightest tool in the box at times! :Luv:

Jaffa is still a youngster at 10, but the bed has always been his favourite spot and it's next to a radiator, so when that is on he becomes a radiator magnet.

Suki being the oldest will sleep under the fur throw i have on the bed and when she hears me turn the Fire on, then she will relocate to the fire and stretch out so she doesn't miss any of the heat.   Sylvester will either sleep in his favourite fur bed or relocate to the conservatory to the nearest pile of warm ironing!  >:( (Bless Him).  A quick question, i've noticed that this year Suki is a little bit stiff and is slow to move in the cold weather. Can anyone recommend any supplements for her or any advice?

Toby (who will be 12 in the new year) loves his wicker basket lined with vet bed. I guess that it's next to the stove might have something to do with it...  :evillaugh:

He was diagnosed with arthritis earlier this year and is now on a supplement containing green-lipped mussel and glucosamine: http://www.denes.co.uk/health/herbal_supplements.php#Green

Mavis's fave spot was always in front of the fire  :Luv: and if it wasn't on, she'd lay there anyway - presumably working on the principle that we'd have to switch it on eventually  :Luv:

Molly doesn't seem to go anywhere new in winter, she is on the bed all year round (not near a radiator though), Tiger has made herself a new space this week, she moved one of my cushions on the sofa to sit on it, bless her!! She does still like to sit on the windowsill though.

Hmmm, the preferred winter sport in our house is the "battle for the bed!" The cats will see me getting ready to go to bed, and usually at least one of them will sprint on ahead of me, so they can look at me with a "Been here the whole time" expression!

Dylan changes his spots when it gets colder. In the summer he lies a lot on a the box from my printer behind the sofa (I know I know he has half a dozen beds but he likes the box so I have to keep it there for him  ) but as soon as it gets colder he starts snuggling up on the sofa beside me again or lying on my knee. He also goes back to lying draped along my side in bed at night which I often only realise when I wake up in the night and find I can't move

As it gets colder i find that Jet and Cleo actually try to sleep under the bed covers with me.  If that doesn't work they jump in their radiator beds which they never use for the rest of the year

Molly sleeps under the duvet with me most of hte year round, she grumbles in the summer if there is only a sheet rather than a duvet, it obviously isn't good enough for her!!

Riley thinks he's classed as 'older (well, he's older than he was yesterday right?)  He is in love with his radiator bed, he's very grateful that Lucas hasn't discovered it yet either  :shify:
