Vets have started giving out my work no now (must have words!!), so got a phone call just before lunch about a stray a few mins drive from my work. As I am supposedly full (and no carrier in the car - mental note to now take address book, carrier, camera and food to work every day!!), I said I would pop round and get some photos, to notify lost and founds, and either when Bella went, or after my night away in London, I would take him in. However, he is very thin, and I felt awful leaving him there, he is very affectionate - she said he hadn't been eating much, so I gave her the HiLife Tuna and Salmon pouch from the car (found very few cats to turn that down), and said I would nip him to the vets on Thurs to check for a microchip. Spoke to my neighbour about him, as he appears to be a Manx, and she asked when I was getting him!! Said I hadn't planned to, as I am away the weekend after next, and didn't want to ask her to feed too many, she told me not to be daft and get him, so when I get him to the vets, he can come back here in the cage - rang the lady, she was really pleased, and told me that he loved the food I left, so she is going to go and get some more for him. He is an unusual colour, like a really dark brown and white, and I would guess at a true Manx, as there is very little of a stump - will put the pics on my photobucket acc tomorrow and post them. So 6 cats, despite me saying on Sat that 5 was my limit.
-
Yep, you most certainly are! But the cats are grateful for people that are bonkers in the way you are! ;)
-
Thanks!! Yeah, suppose there are a lot of cats that are grateful I am such a soft touch!!
-
6 oh my how do you cope
Yes I would stop the vet giving out your phone number immediately cos its breaking the Data protection Act unless you have given permission.
-
6 is pushing it for me, i find it really hard.
Well, they are allowed to give out my home no, and it is on the posters I take up anyway, so all they would have to do is tell them to look, but my work no is a different matter, could have got me in trouble!!
-
Work should be your little hidey hole.....Im sure the vet thinks that you are wonder woman....but we all do also :Luv:

I couldn't have put it better Ruth ;D
Can't wait to see the pics :)
-
Thanks guys - I do tend to do rescue things at work, but when it is my choice, am going to ask them to just give out my mobile number in future (although that doesn't always work when I am at work, poor signal).
-
Looking forward to the pictures Desley. Your house must be a bit mad at the moment!
-
cant wait to see pics of the little babe desley, you're an angel for giving him somewhere warm and safe to sleep :Luv:
-
Here is the pic I took of him at the lady's house, will sort out a better one that I took last night later. Sadly he doesn't have a chip, and isn't a true Manx, the vet thinks it has been chopped off by a vet, and he is also neutered, so has had a home at some point. Vet estimates him to be 10, and his gums bled when she checked his teeth, so they will probably need sorting, but he can eat wet and dry food, so at least he can have a bit of time to settle, and put some weight on before that happens. Vet described him as a 'typical Desley cat'!!! He is very friendly and affectionate and just wants to nuzzle into you, headbut you and then settle down to sleep, I did feel really sad for him last night, I do hope he hasn't been dumped, as he is so friendly and affectionate, he really doesn't deserve it. I am ringing round vets, rescues and petshops at lunch (didn't do it before in case he had a chip). Vet has named him Rolo.

Rolo is gorgeous Des.....the thought of the vet chopping his tail off (how barbaric!)
Hope someone is missing him poor boy ;)
-
WOW he is a handsome boy  well done you xx
-
Oh Desley Rolo is a sweetheart :Luv:
Sending him lots of love and cuddles xx
-
He is soooo sweet. Sending him a huge fuss! :Luv: And you a  Well done, Desley. :)
-
Well, it could have been an accident that caused him to lose his tail. As he is not chipped, and the people contacted so far have no record of a lost cat, it appears that no one is missing him, but it will be a minimum of 2 weeks before he is placed up for rehoming, but judging by how thin he is, he has been a stray for more than the week the lady has been feeding him. RSPCA are putting him on their national database, which is a good thing. This is how soft he is (I gave him an hour to settle and eat, then sat in his room, and this was taken after about 10 mins)

Rob is lovely and that newest picture makes me so sad. His face and posture are just saying wow isnt this great I have a home now and I am warm and comfortable. I reckon he really did miss his creature comforts.
Losts of cuddles and strokes to him ;D
-
Rolo Gill (vet wanted a nice c.hoc name for him!!). i felt really sad when I was sat with him last night, it doesnt' normally bother me, but he is so friendly and affectionate (loves to lick my pyjama's and headbutt me), that it made me sad he was left outside to look after himself. He has definitely had a home before, and is fully litter trained.
-
Oh sorry Rolo, I must be so tired I cant read any more ;D
Thats a lovely name and that picture looks exactly as yopu have explained it, he looks so wonderful and I can almost hear the Purrs ;D
-
Oh dear!!!
IT is, and certainly unusual!! He is, I just hope when he is ready, people can see past his age, and give him a chance.
-
Awwwww Desley Rolo is stunning :Luv:
I would love to have him :Luv: Just have to win the lottery and get a bigger house :tired:
I have everything crossed that Rolo finds a loving forever home soon xx

He is Ellie, and has a wonderful personality to go with it. I showed the pic of him on my knee to my neighbour, and she thought he was older than 10, I have to say I was shocked when the vet said he was that old, I wouldn't have thought that myself. He does have a 'strange' look in his eye, I can't quite place whether it is age, weariness or tiredness, so hopefully it will go in a couple of weeks, when he has settled, and realised he is safe. He is preferring to eat dry than wet at the moment, so his teeth may be bothering him, but I really want him to put some weight on first, and he is a bit snuffly, so need to see what that is as well, am hoping it is just a reaction from being nice and warm after being out in the cold. I woke up to howling winds and rain beating against hte window, so went and gave him a big hug, he is lucky my neighbour told me not to worry about how many they had to look after in a couple of weeks, he could have been out in that (well, I was going to take one of my pyramid beds for him to sleep in the lady's porch!!)
-
Awwww bless him :Luv:
Poor wee man is probably worried he's going to be toss out in the cold again :( even although we know that's NOT going to happen ;) maybe that's why he has that look in his eyes
Rolo is a sweetheart :Luv: I just had to come back for another wee look :Luv:

He might be, or he might not be able to believe his luck!! They have had lots of treats this weekend, first Asda had some roast beef reduced, so that was part of yesterday's tea, then today they have had a tuna and prawn tea!! He has also had some cat milk with being on the thin side, and loved that. No wonder they like being here!! He does like to sprawl out on your knee though, and loves to lick your clothing, and touch your face - I had a very wet nose on my nose this morning as we both misjudged his headbut!!
-
He sounds so wonderful and if I had room I would love to have him ;D
I reckon he is a little confused to have come from such a hard life and now wowwwwwww its so great. I suspect he is a little worried its going to stop and he will just be thrown out again. If only we could talk to them ;D
-
He is - my neighbour asked if I was going to keep him, but I doubt it, especially with Zia potentially being here for life, it would hamper fostering, and i had to turn one down today that was really thin, cos I didn't dare take on another, we are having conflicts already and no more space to isolate - fortunately, another rescue had said if no one had space they would sort him out, but I dont want to be in that position too many times. And, I am sure he will find a home due to being 'unusual' - rescue lady wondered if he was really black, but his colour has faded, I doubt it the more I look at him.
-
He has been here a week now, and is such an affectionate little cat, he is a pleasure to have round, all he wants to do is sit on your knee, and lick your clothing, while kneading you!! As he is in the bathroom, you can't go to the toilet in peace at the mo, my mum was round earlier, and she had to call me to help get him off her knee!! He is one I am very tempted with, but I am sure he will find a home really easily with his temperament and colouring.
-
He is really lovely, whereabouts in the world are you Desley?
-
North West, we technically cover Shaw and Oldham. ARe you tempted??
-
You could say that - didn't realise you were that close
-
HAve sent you a PM
-
Hmmm....yes Im nosy but....I feel positive about this :wish:
-
He isn't actually ready for rehoming yet Ruth, how long depends on how much weight he puts on, and he is giong to have to ahve a dental before he leaves us I think.
-
Well, Rolo has been here 2 weeks now, he is going for his dental on Tues, and then I can see what he is like with my cats and put him on the rehoming page, fingers crossed he wont be waiting long. He has to have bloods and a drip due to his age, fingers crossed eveyrthing goes well for him, and he then puts even more weight on. Found out the hard way this week he can't tolerate food in gravy.
-
Did Rolo go for his dental today and how is he?
-
got my fingers crossed for a quick homing for this little one. Bless him he is such a sweetie!!! :Luv2: :Luv2: :Luv2: :Luv2:
Hope all went OK with the dental today. :scared:
-
Rolo didn't have a dental today after all, he only has one dodgy tooth, so giving him meds and letting him put more weight on first. Am going to pm you later Yvonne.
-
Pics taken this week - as you can see, he hasn't put a lot on in 3 weeks (although looking at the first pic again, he really does look miles better), so I doubt he will be ready this side of X Mas, I think we stop rehoming the second week in December, which is only a month off.

rolo is a lovely colour ;D
-
HE is, not sure they really get his true colour. He has been playing with teh Catnippy thing - can't for the life of me think what it is called!! I had to take it off him in the end, he went bonkers over it!! He isnt going to be up for rehoming this year, we have decided that as we only have 3 full weeks after this week, he wont be ready, and he will look a lot better in the New Year - if only i could afford a third, he woudl stay, he is sooo lovely, and Molly tolerated him last night, practically unheard of!!
-
One of him playing, no idea where the other one went to!!
I have taken him off the AB's, as he had a runny bum, and he hasnt' got the reserves to have that for 14 days, so giving him chance to get his tum right, then doign them every other day.
-
Awwww Des he sounds like a real dream to have ....and he is gorgeous he has such a pretty face it would seem that he has landed on his paws with you ...
Lets hope you can get his tummy sorted ..keep me updated ...you know my offer still stands too
-
He is, he has been here 5 weeks now I think, and currently sat on the bed at hte side of my computer with his paw against my leg - he loves to sleep on the bed, bless him, and loves cuddles, so he might be handy for the next few weeks. He certainly has, spoilt little brat that he is!!
I am sure I will, the diet seems to be controllign it well, although very smelly poo's so he is on dry food only tomorrow. Thanks.
-
Rolo has been here for 6 weeks now, he is looking a lot better, still has two tone fur though, and his back legs are still soo thin, his sides are slightly thin, but nowhere near as bad as they were. He is finally learning how to play as well, bless him. Only problem is he wants some outdoor access now, so I am going to see what he does Sat morning - I dont think he want's to escape, I just think 6 weeks of being indoor for him is enough, and he is here for at least another 4 weeks.
-
WEll, I had someone ringing about Marmalade earlier, but they want a cat that will enjoy the fields they have at the back, and Marmalade has always been indoor only, so I have suggested Rolo - he is fine bout taking on an older animal, and is going to talk to his partner and see if she agrees. He is having his dental on Tues, so they are ringing back then - fingers crossed everything goes well, and he can go off to his new home in Jan.
-
That would be great but ummmmmmmm who is Marmalade? ;D
-
Marmalade is a foster at Kelly's, I think I briefly mentioned her (I take weekend calls, so get enquiries about cats that we have in general, not just my fosters).
-
Oh right, I thought I had missed something major happening at your house ;D
-
No, that Marmalade has someone looking at him, need to update that post.
