I had a watercolour done by someone in Scotland when my boys were little. It was lovely, done from photos and my only quibble was that it made Max look like Einstein (very intelligent eyes) whereas :censored: :censored: He's got a lot brighter since mind you. When he was a kitten he used to chase flies on the wrong side of the window
I would love to have one done again - something really well done - and I'm asking a SA artist for a quote but it may be too expensive. There are a lot of artists about who advertise in the catmags, but does anyone have any recomms please?

if you find anyone let me know I want a picture of a torti for oh for christmas but can't find one anywhere

Hi,
I found this through Google, I've never used them but it might be of interest but it looks pretty pricey.

The watercolour or gouache at £200 would make a lovely combined birthday and Xmas present from OH don't you think?! ;)
Thanks for the link - I can ask the artist anyhow. Swampy's not easy to do as he's burmese so shades of dark brown and (these days) a bit of grey for good measure, like his mum :(

Gillian does lovely paintings and Gill too

Gillian that is utterly amazing, I love the eyes so adorable :Luv:
-
That is brilliant, Gillian.
-
Gillian, that is SO good. I can't draw or paint.

I always liked drawing and painting, but also found cats somehow very difficult as a subject matter. I could never seem to do them the justice.
So I hold the highest esteem for someone like Gillian, what a beautiful tribute to Elsa you have done!! Just lovely!! :Luv:

I think Gillian is very good and I am just a begginer and better at drawing them than anything else at moment.
Was thinking that there is a new kind of pencil out with is tinted with colour and that maybe good for cats.............think I will have to try it ......................sigh

Beautiful Gillian :Luv:

Thanks Gillian - that portrait of Elsa is really good and I also love her eyes. I'll pm you about it after the weekend when I can really get at the computer. I like pastels - the one I had done before (still in storage) was done in pastels. How easy or otherwise is it to 'do' brown burmese cats? Max is always easier with his choc point colouring. Swamp has grades of brown mixed in with a bit of white and grey these days.
Thanks for the other link and I'll follow that up too! Depending on what I can afford, I hope to get really good portraits of my boys to keep forever.

Well even though he is brown, I expect there are different shades in his coat which will vary according to the lighting, you know, the coat willl look different if the photo is taken outside compared to a photo taken inside. Just going to flick through my Cat World mags and have a look!

There are quite a few different shades in his coat. In fact the very young new vet's nurse says "oh, he's not just one colour is he, he's got all sorts of brown and oh white and grey like an old person"....thank you ducky, it happens to us all :)
I'm very interested Gillian. Can you pm me with what you charge and what you'd need and the sort of size that you do please? Any info that you need.
Max also has changes in colour in his coat. I'm trying to take decent photos and to look for some that show them both coat wise and facial expression and eyes-wise. The eyes have it, as you know from your Elsa!
