Hello there! My name is Lucas and I am a 10 year old grey and white cat. Auntie Dawn found me on the streets as a stray and caught me so I could be given a home. When she found me, I was very hungry and also had worms, it wasn’t very nice at all. I was so hungry that I had to break into other cats cat flaps for food – not like me at all as I am a very reserved and quiet cat, but I was so hungry! When I was first brought in, I had scratches on my nose which have now healed. I was also very skinny and Auntie Dawn thinks I wouldn’t have lasted another winter living rough.
I am living with a foster mum at the moment and I have all the food I can eat! I have also discovered a lovely new drink called cat milk – my foster mum says I am a bit of an addict! I have lots of reasons to purr, so I find that I am purring nearly all day. I am putting some weight on too. Apparently I am something called a “charmer” as my foster mum’s friends all want to take me home.
The thing is, I need a special home as I am a very special cat. I have FIV you see, which means I have to be an indoor cat. I don’t mind this at all as I have had enough of being outside, I much prefer a nice warm spot (or lap) indoors. Even though I have FIV, you’d never know – I am a healthy boy in all other ways and I am only middle aged, lots more years left of purring, furry headbutts and snuggling for me yet.
I hope that I will get a permanent home soon, it is nice here but I would like to have my forever home with someone who thinks I am just as special as my foster mum does!
Lucas xx

Is his ear always down like that? George had the same thing after his visit to the bad vet :(
I have a softspot for wonky cats

You would'nt guess by his pics that he's 10 :wow:
Good Luck Lucas with finding your forever home soon....until then I know your well cared for :Luv:
-
Lucas is gorgeous and I only wish I had more room to re-home some more kitties....one day maybe. Keeping my fingers crossed that Lucas finds a lovely new home soon.
-
I agree with Ruth, he still maintains that kitten like sweetness in his expression, such a special boy indeed!! I hope and believe he will find a loving family soon, as I can see his charm really shines through.
-
I love the third pic!
Such a handsome man.
-
Awwwww what a sweetheart :Luv:
Lucas doesn't look his age I thought he was only about two or three looking at his pics :)
Everything crossed that he finds a loving forever home soon xx

MM - He holds his ear like that sometimes - but its not always like that. He has a little sore behind his ear that he keeps irritating and wont let it go away so I think its after he scratches that he is fluffybanana-eared :ahh:
I agree he does not look 10 years - he does love his naps though. He loves curling up on you anywhere and snoozing - although I find it adorable how he seems to try to stay awake as if he doesn't want to miss out on his time with you by sleeping :)
He doesnt really understand "play" yet but he was mildly interested in a cheeping mousey - I think its a combination of not really being played with for a long time and also he is trying to get his strength back.
He is so lovely and whoever adopts him will be very lucky indeed :)

Lucas is gorgeous and my circumstances at the moment means having a permanent cat would not be a good idea. However, if it was I wouldnt be able to resist Lucas, he is a handsome cuddly teddy :Luv:
-
:Luv: oh my, i have absolutely fallen in love with this boy, he's adorable <3
i wish i was nearer :( i've never owned an fiv + before, is there anything special to take into consideration apart from indoors of course?
-
His lovely pic alway gives me warm fuzzy's in my heart every time I log on to this forum :Luv: But it is not a good thing if I keep seeing him there!! I am sure the right folks has been missing out on all this, he is so huggable and snuggable makes me want to go right over and give him a good squeeze between my arms!!... I hope they will notice him soon!!
-
I can vouch for Lucas's cuddleability! He's gorgeous :Luv: So friendly and his fur is so soft :Luv: If I had a vacancy he'd be coming to live with me like a shot!! ;D

Sarah, Clare is a very good person to talk to about FIV+ kitties. I know that there is some potential for gum problems, I think Clare puts something on Max's food for this. I should look into this if he is going to be with us for a while :)
Today for the first time I got Lucas to play :ahh: I was so happy to see him running about after a feather. He is normally so laid back and just plods around the room waiting for you to sit down so he can snuggle on you. I got the feather out and he was a bit unsure at first but then did a little run after it trying to grab it and then when I had it held up higher he was swiping and biting it :Luv:
It didn't last too long before he just gave me "the look" which means "are you going to pet me then or what?" :evillaugh: Its good though, I think he might be getting some energy back! ;D
-
Lucas sounds like such a honey, and I'm so chuffed he's starting to play for you Dawn ;D
The stuff I put in Max's wet food is Plaque Off, and I reckon it does help ..... I'm taking him to the vet for his MOT next month, so will be interesting to see how his teeth are doing with a combination of that and the 'dental' dry food he's been having for a while as well ;D
-
I will have to have a look out for this :shify: thanks Clare :thanks:
I never get to see his teeth as he only opens his mouth quickly and then closes it again  I always try to see in time but my eyes are not that fast

I was out trying to sort out about a pregnant one where Lucas came from last night and I came across one of the neighbours who found a kitten about 10 weeks ago, he is the identical colour to Lucas but no white on him, he was a little feral so there's a good possibility Lucas is the daddy :Luv: :Luv:
I'm glad he's doing well Dawn, I'm really surprised I've had no enquiries about him though :'(
-
SO If Lucas is the daddy of the little kitten, does it mean that the kitty might be positive for FIV?
-
I've mentioned it to the vet today and he said it would be worth getting mum tested when she is spayed. If she has it, there's a possibility the kitten will have it so he would be better getting tested as well. The lady who's keeping him is keeping him as an indoor anyway so he's not going to pass it on to another cat and of course, he'll be neutered.
-
IT isn't always passed on to the kittens, think that is mainly FeLV
-
Any update on this wee boy
-
Sadly no enquiries whatsoever  I really can't believe it, he is such a gorgeous little man and I think if peeps met him, they will surely fall in love :Luv2: :Luv2:
