Title: Alaska T.Angora male 6mths RESERVED
Post by: AllBreedsRescue on December 08, 2006, 21:58:33 PM
Meet  Alaska

(http://i142.photobucket.com/albums/r96/AllBreeds/Alaska1.jpg) :catlove:

He’s a 6 month old lovable Turkish Angora.

Alaska is looking for a new home because his owners were threatened with eviction. Unfortunately they failed to get permission from their landlord before buying him from a breeder.

Alaska is a friendly out-going cat who loves everyone he meets. He is toilet trained and well behaved. A very playful, confident and inquisitive cat who is looking for a new home with someone who has owned cats before. He is currently living in a foster home with dogs and other cats, he would live with either providing they are friendly towards him.

What Alaska needs now is a stable, loving forever home. Always wanting to be closed to you, or curling up on your lap, he is looking for an owner who will shower him with love and affection. He would happily live with respectful and sensible children. He is looking for a home with access to it’s own private garden.

Alaska is looking for a perfect new home, a home where he will be loved and cherished for the rest of his life.

OMG what a stunning cat.  Would the breeder not take him back seeing as he's a pedigree?

I doubt this gorgeous boy will be waiting long for a new home.  Lovely name as well.

What a wonderful looking baby, if you were closer we would have loved him to become a member of our family - we have all the space, secure garden, water - we have our own stream and pond is next years project as Bailey one of our 4 year olds losves swimming and misses the pond from our last house.

Hope he finds his forever home if not drop me a line!!!!!

My partner has just asked whether in the picture is just suffering "red eye" due to the flash or if he is in fact, an albino!

What a lovely cat......I'm sure he will not be looking for very long....beautiful name too.

Turkish Angoras are not the same as Turkish Vans.  The Angora is a semi-longhair (silky haired) and of Oriental build, but the Van is cobby and shorter haired (not always really short-haired), and has typical auburn markings on top of a white coat.  I believe both can produce offspring with odd coloured eyes...and I think this is deemed acceptable in both breeds.  By 'odd' I mean one blue and one green or other colour but not red ha ha!  Turkish Vans are supposed to originate from the Lake Van area of Turkey and are said to be good swimmers. Both breeds are gorgeous.

Hope that helps.

Best wishes and good luck to Alaska

Roz

P.S. Just wanted to say that it is quite unusual for a responsible breeder not to want to try to re-home one of their former kittens.  The Turkish Angora is a relatively rare breed of cat in this country (not many breeders around.... unlike the Turkish Van) so I cannot understand why he/she would not be interested in maintaining a good name within the Cat Fancy...and with an attitude like this she will not have one for very much longer.

Yep it's the flash, he's actually got blue eyes. Often white blue eyed cats are deaf but luckily he's not

I think he's adorable. Sadly, I don't think the mob I've got here would agree. They'd probably kick off spectacularly if I tried to take in another cat. :(

As it's already been said, I'm sure he'll find a home really quickly. Please keep us updated. :)

I wasn't sure if Vans and Angoras where linked but as Roz has pointed out they aren't.

I was also quite surprised that the breeder wouldn't take him back ... especially as he isn't very old.

Yes that is quite odd. Only thing I can think of is if the breeder hasn't got the room to isolate him whilst he gets his FIV/felv blood tests done but I'm sure the breeder could have put him in a cattery and charged the current owners for it. I'm sure Bilbo's contract says something about if he has to go back to them me having to pay for him for 3 months whilst he has all his blood tests etc done.

I've had him tested felv/fiv -ve.
When I spoke to his breeder I told her one of her kittens had been brought to me for rehoming, she quickly stated that all her Kittens have to be returned to her. I started to ask what her rehoming policies for adult cats were...she butted in asking how old he was... I told her he was an adult cat I'd recently neutered...she quickly back tracked explaining how she wasn't able to take him in and didn't bother asking any further questions about him  :shify:

At 6 months old he's not an adult cat. He's only been away from his breeder for 3 months max!!

A breeder that will take back a 6 month old but won't take back an adult is not a good breeder IMO

Aha hence why you said he was an adult cat rather than saying he was a kitten. Sorry I was all confused there for a minute about how a 6 month old could be an adult (my brain is half dead at the mo).  Poor little boy he's such a cutie too and I love his name. He'll be snapped up in no time  ;D

True up to a point, but good breeders are just like everyone else and don't always have room for another adult cat.  Most live in normal size houses and have the same problems with introductions and cats getting on as the rest of us, so with adults sometimes the best they can do is help find a new home or contact a breed rescue.  Not that this breeder sounds like a particularly good breeder as most would be intersted in any cats they'd bred that needed rehoming.

I'm sure he'll be rehomed in no time at all as he's gorgeous.

I agree, if you breed I think you have a responsibility for that cat no matter what its age. Bit like kids really I suppose, as you are responsible for bringing them into this world.
