Was on the Glasgow site, and just found this - thought it might be of interest
Why do I have to have my cat's FIV test confirmed?
In a recent, as yet unpublished, survey, 5.5% of FIV infected cats were missed by the tests used in the practice and 7% of practice FIV positive results were false positives, that is, the test had wrongly labelled a healthy cat as infected with feline immunodeficiency virus.

That's a really scary result ... I wonder how many of the 7% were then PTS as a result of getting an incorrect result :(
-
Isn't it just - I knew the second statistic, but not the first. Sadly, I would say quite a few of that 7% - it is worse for FeLV though, that has a 42% chance of being incorrect, and a positive should always be rechecked 12 weeks later in case they have shrugged the virus off, but I suspect some are pts immediately after the first result.

Des if you able can you post the link to the Glasgow site and I will add it to the links on here.
thanks
