Title: Can't wait until tomorrow!!!!!!!!!!
Post by: Sam (Fussy_Furball) on October 05, 2007, 20:06:40 PM: Tomorrow I am going to Lutterworth (Near Leicester) ...... OK I can hear you all saying it ... "LUTTERWORTH!" But there is a cat show on there and I am meeting up with someone we all know and love ... a certain Bengal owner will be there with 2 of her clan Woo Hoo!

I can't wait to meet them all I'm sooooo excited.

I will be taking my camera so I will hopefully be able to get some pics of the Bengaly babes for you all to oooh and ahh over. :Luv:

I have modified this thread as I didn't realise you weren't allowed to "advertise" .... so I have removed the owners name and name of the kitties (but I think you can probably guess who I'm talking about ;))

It's a TICA show, so be prepared for it to be very hectic. TICA has different rules to GCCF and they're not so strict on advertising one's attendance at shows, but it is still better to err on the side of prudence.

Don't forget to look up the household pets too and keep an eye out for the Burmese. ;)

I met up with Linda and Kevin and the gorgeous Velvet and Rainbow :Luv: :Luv: :Luv: :Luv: Velvet is an absolute star he is gorgeous and did really well in the show ... even with his croaky voice (apparently after being in the car for 10 hours hollering his little voice had gone! :rofl:) he won lots of firsts (but I'll let Linda tell you about that). The best bit of the day was giving Rainbow a cuddle ... Linda took her out of her pen and gave her to me :Luv: :Luv: ... what a complete sweetheart. Unfortunately she was just a little bit too big to fit into my handbag :rofl:

I also made friends with a rather lovely Sphynx ... i have never touched one before but I was pleasantly surprised they are actaully lovely and feel like suede .. I still prefer my cats with fur I think but I am seeing Sphynx's in a whole new light now!

It was lovely meeting Linda and Kevin and finally putting faces to names

Glad you had a fab time though - shame about the camera. Mind, I rarely take one of my bricks to shows as it's just too much to lug around...

I did .... gorgeous. There were a few beautiful burmeses, some stunning Abys and a simply adorable little Seal Point Siamese boy ... very vocal and super purry!

A show always makes for an enjoyable day out, even when not showing. It's just great to be able to enjoy the cats and watch the judging without the worry of having your own cat in competition. What I have noticed though is that the skew of breeds in a TICA show is very different to what you're likely to find at a GCCF show - namely the large number of Benglies and Sphynxes.

Must be because of the smaller population of breeders. But it was always great fun, and it was interesting how, depending on the judges, the same cats were placed differently ... Mine used to love showing, even the 'pet' ones. And it is always a great social day too I found.

I've noticed that there seem to be a lot of bengals at GCCF shows these days too.

Trouble is, I do tend to hang around the HP section when exhibiting so really don't get too much of a chance to look.

A good way to get a good look at the cats is to volunteer to put prize cards / rosettes on pens. Then you get to see which are the really good cats! ;D
