How warm do you keep your pens?
I have a ceramic heat lamp like the ones you use for chicks. Im not sure what temp i should be aiming for!

my cat pens have always had direct access to the indoors through a cat flap or window so heating was not necessary. Sorry.

This is a foster shed so they cant come in the house, Milly says so :evillaugh:

recommended temp for controlled climate for humans is 22 degrees centigrade (actually 20 for women and 24 for men, so they average it out so no-one is comfy. So I would probably aim for around 20 as an optimum. But, that would cost a fortune for the whole run. If you had a box within the run you could heat that to around 20 and the cat could choose where it wanted to be ... Alternately you could provide a warm sleeping pad and keep the general heat around 17 or slightly lower... THese are just thoughts, not expert opinions, by the way...

Iv got a 5x7 garden shed and i used loft insulation inside with a layer of hardboard and then lino so it holds the heat nicely. I set the controller to 20 to see what it was like, cosy!
The ceramic bulbs are quite efficent (i hope) or my dad will get a shock with his next bill :evillaugh:
Thanks BC :thanks:
