Everytime Leo goes for a wee or a pooh he never quite manages to cover it up ! He will scrape the walls, the wooden floor, side of bath.. (anywhere but the littet to cover his buisiness !)
He also then ends up treading in it so I have to clean his paws a thousand times a day !!
Anyone else hsve this >?
-
Our old cat used to scrape the wall and the washing machine - fortunately he never managed to get the machine in there!
-
His littler tray is quite a big one also.. so its not as if he has no room ! he could do rolly pollies in it !
-
How deep have you got the actual litter Lisa? Max treads in his poos sometimes too, when I scoop them out they have a footprint size indend in them  Think I'll have to think twice next time I lovingly give his toes a kiss
Max will always clean everything around it as well, scrapes the edge of the tray, the top of the tray, the floor around the tray, you name it lol :evillaugh: Then again he does it around his food bowl as well
-
Its at least 3" deep.. Im using WBCL which is quite fine so I did it deep..
Im trying to teach him but he looks at me very odd !
I kiss his feet too.. (after ive cleaned them !) :evillaugh:

our boy cat Penguin scratches everything but the cat litter...
We just accept it as one of the girls will go behind him and cover it up properly.
Typicall really, us girls cleaning up after the boys ;)
-
Yeap both my lads used to not "cover up" when in the litter trays. I have three trays, 2 covered in garden (one a huge jumbo size) and one in house and Marley still trys to scratch the side even in the huge one :-: Garf was the same when he used to use them. Garf now uses the garden after he saw Gizzy do it so now covers up very well with the earth. Means i havre to go treasure hunting in the soil :evillaugh:
-
It looks to be a 'boy thing'....
Lets just count ourselves lucky they don't have to worry about toilet seats as well :evillaugh:
-
ha ha you have a good point hon !
-
My boys are the same too they do cover up but scratch the sides of the litter tray and hood, also if there is food left they attempt to cover it up by scratching at the floor, never managed to get the tiles over the food though LOL
-
Mosi covers up but he tends to fling litter all over the place and often nowhere near where he's done his business! Magpie was like that too - he'd scrape the sides of the tray. Jaffa doesn't cover much - he just does what needs to be done then jumps out of the tray! Sometimes Mosi covers for him ;D
-

Not that you wish he would actually do that in there, I assume?? :evillaugh: :evillaugh: :evillaugh:

Yeah, happens to me too... and he walks all over our pillows, too... :(

Ha Ha jees no!! he does play in it tho which I do try & discourage ! He has all the toys in the world why would he want to play with litter !!!
-
Taz is the opposite, he digs a mountain over his toilets and over the edge of the tray and then sweeps it back again :Luv:
-
The litter tray I can deal with, it is the poo in the carrier that I find harder. Poor old Xanthe has had her second bath because she gets so covered I don't know what else to do with her.
-
ha ha Lucy I know what thats like !
-
:evillaugh: definitely a boy thing - Doc sometimes leaves his "business" uncovered and then Cheese seems disgusted and goes in and covers it, scrapes the edge of the tray, the carpet, the radiator.... as if dying to get rid of the smell
-
Erm.. hate to say it... but.. It's not just a boy thing.. unless Lexy is a frustrated boy?
Heaps of pyramids, never anywhere near what she does, scrapes inside walls of litter tray, and the mat outside it.
-
Yeah, i would say its defo a boy/girl thing...
Never position a litter tray near a wall-papered wall.....i think that's were they get their wall-paper scratching habits from :shify:
One of my cats like's to lay in the litter tray when its just been cleaned and re-filled ;)
-
Don't be mean Ruth, buy them a bed
-
Jaffa likes to pee against the side of the litter tray so I have to make sure there's plenty of newspaper underneath the tray to catch the spillage! I think it's a dominance thing with him. He's always done that but has done it more since Mosi arrived. Same with the not covering. He used to cover most of the time but sometimes would not. Now he rarely covers.
-
it's a dominant cat thing. They are making sure their smell is the predominant smell. So no need to cover it. More effective the cover, more submissive the cat.
-
Oh dear, Misa has always covered but scratches everything in sight as well as the litter, when he has had enough attempts there is a neat parcel of every scrap of litter!
Ducha trys very hard but often gets it wrong cos of his 3 leggs whareas Franta and Sasa(girl) never make any attempt to cover unless its outside.
maybe cats cant see near very well or cant associate where they have done something that the want to cover with something. It always seems to work quite well outside but not in litter trays. Often I see Ducha sniffing for the place he used to try and cover it but by then hes either standing outside the tray or with only one foot in and facing the wrong way
-
Jessie always sounds as tho she's digging down to Australia and is v single-minded and determined but completely ineffective...the perfect wake up call at 5:00a.m. - NOT >:(
-
My two girls can't get the hang of covering things up either....Imogen scrapes away for ages at the sides of the tray but at least she tries - Lily just uses the tray and walks off without even a backward glance :evillaugh: one of the boys usually covers it up for her
Mavis, bless her, used to 'dig' at the litter with both front paws - like a little tabby dog burying a bone :) I always used to tell her that unless she was attempting to get to China, it was ok to stop :Luv: :Luv: :Luv:
-
Archie manages to stand in his poo sometimes  He also scratches the floor and catflap after has made a poor job of covering up. Although he goes out in the daytime he refuses to wee outside and often rushes in absolutly desperate to go. :evillaugh:

Would it ever be possible for these 2 talents to be put together!!??? :wow:
