acro-megaly - from the greek high (as in acro-phobia - fear of heights) and megalos- large or great as in megalomania. Presumably to describe the unusual largeness of the sufferer's head?? Interesting word ...

I have heard of this in humans but not cats. Hope he does OK.

He seems to be still having treatment but also has been a lucky cat cos was picked up as part of a trial and it seems that this blood test that discovered it, is not available to cats outside the trial  :(

Its good to hear he happened to be part of the trial at the right time-but to think of all the others that may be missing out is sooo saad!!

You are right its very sad but luckily I think this is very rare and hopefully the trial will prove to be helpful for any other cats that have this in the future
