Title: LostCatsBrighton in need of Urgent Help
Post by: ronandcats on September 26, 2007, 22:47:10 PM
Hi Everyone, Ron here at LostCatsBrighton and I’m hoping someone out there might be
able to help with a desperate situation that’s come up suddenly.  About 3 months ago I
had a lovely couple of cats called Olly and Floyd who I managed to rehome after
spending more that 6 months in my pen. Sadly, just after rehoming them, Floyd was run
over by a car and was seriously injured but thanks to the great work of the vet he
managed to make a full recovery. I thought that all was well until I received word that the
couple who took them in are now having a baby and won’t be able to care for them any
more! I think it would be awful to have to put them back in the pen after all this time and
I’m hoping that someone out there could take them in for me or at least foster them until I
can find them a new home. Of course I’ll take care of any vets bills while they’re
fostered. It must be said that they weren’t very happy in the pen and it would break my
heart to have to keep them there again.  Please, Please if anyone can help them out I
would REALLY appreciate it.  Thanks for reading and please call me on 01273 422721 if
you think you can help. Thank You!

Oh that is so sad Ron and makes me angry.

I know that two peeps on here have offered to take on fosters but one already has some and possibly the other too, hope someone else can help out.

Ron I have contacted my friends in Hove to see if they know anyone who can help - they think you are fab since helping me bring the cat food over and have started buying food for you themselves so you never know!!

Why didn't they think about that before they took the cats on?

Oh no  :'( they look like gorgeous babies, that is so heartbreaking.

I really have zero respect for people who only see cats as a temporary solution until a baby comes along  >:( >:(

Good luck with these boys

I've sent it to a friend that lectures at Brighton Uni and asked her to spread the word.  Perhaps something comes of that.

and yes, I think it should be a 'Sticky'

OH Ron what an absolute shame - the poor lads.

I so hope they find a REAL loving home,

It  :censored: angers me that people have a human baby and throw the fur baby out because of it. So the fur baby was a subsitute until they got what they wanted then cast aside like a piece of rubbish. Cats are living creatures too and feel pain and distress and sufer depression just like a human.

Good Luck Floyd & Ollie xxxxxxxx

I so hope something comes up for them soon.

Ron, not sure how I can get a message to you but I had a message back from my friend Anja at Brighton Uni.  This sounds quite hopeful.  Fingers crossed that appeal worked in the end.

"Hi Chris,
Quite a few people answered my email - if not for keeps, then at least for fostering - so Ron should have had a few calls by now - just wanted to let you know.

Good luck Ollie and Floyd in finding some real parents very soon .... I suppose in a way it's good that the "fake" parents you had before chose a hairless baby over you guys now before you had really bonded with them grrrrrrr.

I'm sure you will be a new, loving, forever home very soon.

Are these boys on CatChat yet?

I agree with Sam,they dont deserve to have such beautifull babies, it makes me so angry and the sad thing is in several years they probably decide to have a kitten for thier baby!!! >:( i wish i could have them but Phoebe doesnt like other cats :( I am sure they will find some good home, they deserve it. Goodluck

Very sad these little lads haven't found a home.  Hope someone can help them out very soon.  I echo the others' comments on the belief people have that cats are discardable objects when babies come along.

I have sent you an email Ron to see if I can find anybody local to you. The more local people approached the more likelihood of help.

Keep up the good work.

They won't know if they are coming or going. Thats how I got my Kylie. The people that homed her originally changed their minds and took her back after 2 weeks. The woman at the CP shelter said she was really depressed and I had to get her out quickly - poor little things  :'(

Ron I'm sorry my friends in Hove didn't come up with anyone, they have any number of ladies of a certain age with loads of time who could foster and I really thought one of them could help, I'm going down at the end of the month and will do some PR and anyway they will be coming with me to deliver food again so maybe we can ambush them together!

the cat pictured... his eyes really haunt me, bless him, its so unfair when people just pass animals off as though they have no feelings, it really angers me, he looks so sad and bewildered,
how do we find out more about him...... ie is he good with other cats, dogs ,kids etc...

Poor little boys  :(  Could they be top cats on the CC rehoming page?  Don't know if Ron rehomes out of area (subject to homecheck being done by local charity of course).  If he does I'd be happy to help out with transport to anywhere in the UK.  Am in Bucks but will drive them to wherever a new home can be found if that's something Ron would consider.

As Ron knows, we have been clearing some stuff out and are collecting a little pile of saleable items for his car boot sales.  We have not yet set a date for our trip to LostCats Brighton, but if a more northerly home is found for these two, I would be happy to combine our donation trip with cat collection and onward transport.

Ron, I am so sorry I haven't been down as I'd promised. With luck, now that my Chislet problem seems to be under control, I'll have some free time in the next couple of weeks. Then we can update all your pictures and your Catchat page.

Cor, just caught up with the news.  That's great!  Am very pleased these two were rehomed after all.  Let's hope they settle in very quickly and are given the love and affection they deserve.
