I've been meaning to ask this for ages. I was 12 the last time I had a kitten and to be honest at that age I was lucky to remember my own eye colour let alone the cats.
Seeing so many babies on these threads with those GORGEOUS blue eyes, I just wondered at what age they start to change eye colour to the permanent colour?
I have to say that if Lexy had been with me as a kitten, knowing her as she is now, well I would have been sunk if I had a gander at a Baby Lexy with blue eyes. She would get away with much more than she does now that's for sure.
If a man had that colour eyes and decided to charm me... well, he wouldn't have to try hard that's for sure :evillaugh:
Is it just me who falls apart at how gorgeous their eyes are? The kittens not men :evillaugh:

I think their true eye colour settles around 3 months Ruth.
I love cats blue eyes aswell, esp adults with those peircing blue gems :Luv:

the general rule is 6 weeks i believe

You are both right,eyes begin to change colour at 6weeks sometimes a day or two earlier but permanent eye colour is seen at 12weeks.

Oo so we still have some good blue eyes to get a look at with the babies at the Inn. :innocent:

I remember my mum saying that all babies born north of the equator were born with blue eyes, and babies south had brown eyes. That's not allowing for racial types. I guess cats might be the same..? :-:

I thought most human babies were all born with blueish eyes which also change at a certain age :-:

Both my children had blue eyes at birth, but darkened slightly at around 3-4months. But then I've got blue eyes so they probably take it from me. I wonder if it's the same with people who have green eyes, though? Are they born blue?
I've never had dealings with new kittens so wouldn't know about cats. :shy:

yep pb babies eyes are normally blue/slate greyish in colour at birth :) I presume its the same for a lot of mammals ?
PS Aidan Quinn always had gorgeous peircing blue eyes and mel gibson had nice ones too ;)

I'm green eyed but did have blue as a baby, don't know when they changed though

Mosi still had blue eyes when I saw him at 11 weeks. They'd changed though when I collected him at 14 weeks.

Possibly. Or a korat. I always get those 2 mixed up as they are very similar in appearance. I think the korat has a slightly more muscular body than the russian blue and while both have green eyes, the Korat's are a bit lighter than the Russian Blue's which are bright emerald. I think!

I didn't Lynn - the photographer actually named it Scary-cat.jpg instead of 0001.jpg or something! I don't think he looks scary - just intense :evillaugh:
