got Cleo and Roxy booked in to the vets on Thursday evening for there fist injections. gonna cost me £48 per cat.
thinking of taking out a pet plan for each of them, but what will it pay for? will there fist injections be covered by the plan? what about spaying? (http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y27/MattJG/kittens/think.png)

Think mine covers treatment for illness / accident / (with excess to pay) but not for stuff like spaying, dental work, injections. That counts as preventing rather than treating so they don't pay.

Same here, I have a policy with Argos where I pay £50 excess and it does not cover preventatives. You may find your local animal shelter offers cheaper injections, Alison

Insurance does not cover for neutering and annual injections but you definately need insurance incase the worst happens, illness or accident and its good to have insurance from the earliest time cos then you have no pre-existing conditions that they will not pay for. The best insurances will pay for medically needed dental treatment and most cats seem to need this at least once in their lives.
Make sure you read all small print before taking any out.

Although we have all our cats injected we cannot help people with owned cats, and I personally do not know a rescue who does. Cats Protection will however, with the cost of neutering and spaying.

Pet Plan are good, just make sure you get a decent pay out per year and not per condition or for 12 months. You could also look at M&S and AXA.
My vaccinations dont cost that much, is that with felv? If not id get a quote at another vets.

We're with Tesco for all our cats, they don't cover injections. At our vets it's first vaccs are £50 and then £25 for boosters. Think it's about a standard price as Teddie was vaccinated somewhere else before we had him but he was £50 too

policy has to be in force at least 14 days before any claims can be made but don't usually cover preventative meds, that your responsibility of owning a pet

im told they will have to go back for a second but thats all in the same price.

You need to ask the vet but its likely flu, enteritus and leukaemia and I think maybe one other trhing.
Yes when cats are first given injectiond s you ahve the 2nd lot a few weeks later and from then on its annually.

Matt, you should enquire into what you are getting have got for your money. I dont use the felv vaccine as its the one with most side effects.

Our local animal shelter in Cheltenham charges £17 for a triple vacinnation per cat, my friend recently took her kittens there. This is brilliant in comparison with what some vets are charging. :wow:

My vets charge £20 plus VAT for a triple booster (that's the flu and enteritis 3 in 1 - no leukaemia). Initial kitten vacs are more, of course, because there's 2 lots.

they've been today and i have the invoice in frunt of me. i know the place i took them isnt the cheepest, but i know its the best. its not just a small vets, its a veterinary hospital.
invoice reads as follows:

i was given two lots of Fruntline Combo - spot-on cat - kitten pack, FOR FREE.
there realy good. come with some kitten health guide booklet and some calendar reminder stickers. lol. do these come as standard?
i cant remember if she said to wait to use it when they go outside, if they do. DOH.
they have there own Health Check Record cards. in them it reads:

she was discussing with me on what vaccinations they could give them and why. im not overly sure if i want them to stay indoor cats or let them run free outside at the moment, so it was agreed to give them a Full vaccination. i was extremely happy with the way she handle them and the sympathy she showed them. ive been to some heavy handed vets before and just thought they treated my pet as a peace of meat. she was ace and loved the kittens too. said i fell very lucky with them, there in really good condition since i didnt see them or mum before taking them on.

bsh would be british short hair though would have expected it to be domestic short hair myself DSH... Don't forget to go back for the second shots in 3 weeks time ...
