Can anyone tell me what type of Cat I have? Is it a Brititsh Short Hair or Burmese??
-
Looks like a british shorthair to me ;D But if you don't have papers for him you can't be certain. He's very cuddly looking though :Luv:
-
I've no idea I'm afraid, not really up on my breeds, but he as absolutely gorgeous whatever s/he is :Luv:
-
He is beautiful ;)
-
Gorgeous cat, but without papers, s/he is classed as a Domestic ShortHair.
-
I dont think it has the face or eyes for a British shorthair and i dont think its a Burmese either.
Think it might just be a Moggie i'm afraid, although a very handsome one at that :Luv:

:welcome: to Purrs.
Lovely cat - is he a he or is she a she? What is his / her name?
-
We got Conner (he's a he!!) froma rescue home where he was part of what we were told was a pedegree litter, but as they were in the home no records were availale.
I was just wondering as we are looking to get another kitten but wanted the same breed.
-
Maybe Connor has some ped in him somewhere down the line but I dont think he would be full ped. Who cares anyway he is gorgeous.

Its just curiosity to find out what kind he is as everyone asks us!! We have no idea???

Ok if your wanting to know what breed Connor is I would say he is a decedent of a British blue but I'm no expert.
-
Conor is stunning. But I think he's a grey Domestic Short Hair, not a pedigree. He's totally scrummy though!
-
What a handsome chap!

He's beautiful :Luv:

He's a very handsom lad Hoggy, and looks a lot like my blue girl, Pearl. :Luv:
Hoggy, I don't think you can ever prove whether your boy is part-ped or not. Unless you have access to the pedigree papers of either the purported sire or dam, it's impossible to say. The trouble is that a lot of folks think that blue cats *HAVE* to be pedigree or part pedigree purely because of their colour - unfortunately that's not necessarily the case as blue is a perfectly legitimate - if not particularly common - colour for moggies.
The rarity of blue as a colour in non-pedigrees is down to the fact that it is a double recessive i.e. both parents must carry the gene for non-agouti (solid colour) AND for colour dilution. The basic non-agouti gene gives rise to a solid black, and it is a recessive of the dominant tabby gene. Blue is the dilute form of black and is far more common in pedigree cats due to the known genotypes of the parent cats and the fact that blue to blue matings will always produce blue offspring.
If you are looking for a blue cat to be a companion for your lad, you might want to look at British Shorthair, Russian Blue, Exotic Shorthair or Korat.

or a burmese, he has a cute little turned up nose :Luv: Burmese are outgoing animals with a dog-like (no insult intended ) personality, very people-oriented, rather than cat to cat. Though having said that, my burmese have always been fond of curling up with a fellow-kitty.. They also live vertically, curtains, high shelves, pelmets are their natural habitat!!

When introducing a new kitten its better to choose for temperament than type.

In that case, at a push i would say Russian Blue but i really dont think he is

Connor is scruptious and I love blue cats ;D
I agree with most that he is a moggy not a ped, which is cheaper for insurance :evillaugh: and pretty certain he has the wrong nose for a Russian Blue.
It doesnt matter what he is cos he is a class cat ;D
