Title: Animal blood donors
Post by: Mark on September 05, 2007, 16:53:13 PM
I had to go in the vet next door today (another story regarding a cat that was dumped on their doorstep - long & short is they have a home for it if not claimed  ;D )

Anyway, they have a notice up about "Blood Doning" (their word  :evillaugh: )
It says any cat or dog donating blood will require a sedative. They will receive their next vac free of charge as a thankyou  ;D

Ela posted a link about the blood donor register recently http://www.purrsinourhearts.co.uk/index.php?topic=7145.0

It's a great idea and I've registered all my three as potential donors .

I think I would possibly allow it when they were having bloods done but I would have a problem having more needles than neccessary. But on the other hand, we would all like to think there was blood available if our cats needed it.

Do cats have blood types?
