Title: Cat needs home in Oldham (owner going into home)
Post by: ClaireR on September 03, 2007, 17:11:40 PM
Guys,

Not sure if you can help on this one, but I have been doing some work at Oldham Council and I have just received an email from the following social worker.  This is a genuine request.

She sent it out on an all users email and is trying to help.

I am full with fosterers at moment and can't offer an indoor only home.  Can anyone else help?

Eve can be contacted via eve.longbone@oldham.gov.uk if you can offer any help.

Thanks.
Claire

EMAIL FROM SOCIAL WORKER AT OLDHAM COUNCIL

I am currently assisting an older gentleman who, unfortunately, has no alternative but to  remove to alternative accommodation.
He has a cat called Blackie, who has been his sole love and companion for many years. It is impossible for Blackie to accompany him to his new abode!!

This gentleman is devastated that he can no longer love and care for his cat and has begged me to find it a good, loving home.

Is there anybody out there who can give this cat such a loving  home?

His name is Blackie (surprisingly, he is all black!!). He is 10 years old, healthy and very friendly.
He is not used to going outside as he lived in a top floor flat and will now find the outdoors frightening and confusing. He is trained to use a litter tray.

This gentleman is desperate for someone to offer to care for his beloved pet, rather than Blackie having to languish in a rescue centre in a cage for the rest of his life.

Please help.
If anyone is interested then please email me and I will discuss it further.

Many thanks.

God, it's so good to see a social worker actually send an email like that.

Some thoughts: Cinnamon Trust?

How sure are they that the place that Blackie's owner is going won't let Blackie go with - I'd be well up for phoning and negotiating if it was thought worth a try.

I'm in Manchester so will gladly help with any local transport.

Just to let you know - I have asked the lady about whether neutered and vaccinated etc and also general health and how long he has before he has to find him a home.  I am awaiting a response.

Thanks for the response Rebecca - I have asked if there is any flexibility and will see what she says.

I will let her know about Cinnamon Trust - thanks, hadn't thought of that!

Thanks Tan.

I am still waiting for the Social Worker to come back to me.  Will get some more info and come back to you.
