Australians have come up with a novel solution to the millions of feral cats roaming the outback - eat them.....

Well that puts the Australians on par with the Chinese. In fact it makes them worse >:(
My aunt runs a rescue in Surfers Paradise - I don't think it happens in civilised areas.

thanks Sam, I think we have had quite enough aussie-bashing this weekend. As you will note the wildlife people were unimpressed with this moronic display of behaviour. I think it's time we dropped this one don't you.

Scientists have said that those eating wild cats could be exposed to harmful bacteria and toxins.
Its ok they will get sick

As I read the BBC article it is one misguided woman only.

As a veggie , I fail to see the difference between eating cats and any other form of animal - sorry!

Sorry BC I didn't mean to offend you (or any other Aussie's) in anyway :(

Thanks Sam. I think any reasoning person would realise that this is a one-off seriously misjudged political statement by one of the more rabid members of the community who are deliberately targetting the sensibilities of groups such as this one. They do it for a reaction, and look, here we are giving them one....
I say ignore this sort of behaviour and use our energies to come up with a more acceptable solution to the serious damage and extinctions that are being caused by the full range of feral animals in the countries colonised by the British. Perhaps if we trialled it here some members of this forum would have time to sleep at night. :wow:

I can't see how this is Aussie bashing, if it was over here, it would still have been posted. I think you are getting a little paranoid and I also see from your post below, you still like to get your little digs in or am I imagining things >:( The post about the feral eating has nothing to do with damage caused by ferals or any other animal for that matter, so we don't really want a re run of another thread.

Dawn, the event was held in Alice Springs. This is a desert community which has a highly vulnerable ecosystem which is severely affected by feral animals of all sorts. It also has a well-organised, and highly militant Aboriginal community who are not above making overt statements designed to shock. I have since checked with my sources in Oz and I can assure you it was a political 'statement' used as a shock-tactic. If you have anything further to say on the subject I suggest you PM me as it is not appropriate to continue attacks on a member of this forum in a public arena.
