Poor Archie had to rushed to the out of hours vet, again, last night at 11pm. My husband came home at 10.45 and Archie got out, we keep him in at night. The next thing we know he appeared with a very red sore eye. Thankfully we live near the out of hours vet and rushed him off. The vet thought he might have to be seen by a specialist and kept him in over night. Poor Archie was very destressed and was sick. The vet thought that he had run into something sharp. She has just phoned with a progress report and his eye is looking better after having lots of drops put in. The out of hours vet uses our vets surgery, which is very helpful for us, so our vet will have a look at him this morning. I just hope that he does not need to see a specialist. The bill is already £157, but of course when it comes to our furry friends we do not care. Alison :'(

Fingers crossed for a speedy recovery.
-
Hope its nothing serius, and Archie's eye is better soon.
Let us know what the vet says today

-
Poor Archie  I hope he's ok and is home with you soon.
-
Thank you so much for all your good wishes. The vet's nurse has phoned to let me know that they are keeping Archie in today and possibly tonight. The vet will ring later to let me know the latest news.. Archie has a punture wound in his eye and they are making frequent checks on him and giving him eyedrops. I just hope that everything will be ok. :'(

Aw, poor little man. Luckily this was caught early, and the drops should certainly help.
Are you able to go and visit him whilst he's being kept in, especially if it is another overnight stay? You could take an item of clothing or something which smells of home, it may make him a bit more comfortable.
Sending healing headrubs to your little man
-
Thank you Carenmax for your good wishes and useful ideas. I am now going to ask the vet if I can visit him if they keep him in and taking somehing from home is and excellent idea. Alison :thanks:

"Get better soon" Archie....hoping all is well ;) :Luv:
-
Poor Archie, hope hes home soon, did they have any idea how he did to his eye, wee lamb :ahh:
-
Just brought Archie home with two lots of eye drops. He will have to have a combination of eight drops per day in his poor eye. If we cannot manage he will have to go back to the vets for a few days. The vet is quite hopeful he won't have to lose his eye. Poor little chap. He is also confined to the house until his eye gets better. The vet said usually when cats get this type of injury they come into the vets with a small twig etc still in their eye but Archie must have pulled back when the sharp object went in. I just wish I knew what it was. Anyway I just hope we can manage the drops. Thanks for all your kind thoughts which have helped. :thanks:
-
Do hope you can manage the drops cos I am sure he will feel happier at home. So pleased you rushed him to the vets cos that hopefully has saved his eye.
get well soon Archie

We managed to get the drops into Archie's eye this morning only 7 more to go now! He is such a brave little cat. His pupil is still very dilated, but that could be the drops.
-
Hopefully the drops will be a piece of cake to give, even if it takes 2 people to do it lol! When Max had drops a while ago he struggled for the first few, then I think he figured out they were going to help him, and he became much less wriggly and complied for a change :evillaugh:
Good luck and hope Archie's eye improves quickly for you both
-
I'm glad he's home ;D and fingers crossed the eye drops get in the eyes ok!
-
We are getting on quite well with the eye drops  Would appreciate some good vibes when we take Archie back to the vet tomorrow at 6pm :)
-
What a brave little soldier, will have everything crossed for him tomorrow
-
Aww, fingers crossed for him.
-
Best of luck for the vets visit today  All good vibes being sent your way
-
Good luck ;D
-
Hope all goes well at the vets
-
Good luck tonight Archie xxx
-
Poor little man. Good luck at the vets tonight
x

:thanks: Thank you so much for all your thoughts and good vibes. The vet was pleased to see that Archie's eye was responding to his torch. We have to keep on with the eight eye drops a day regime and take him back next Wednesday. Hopefully the punture wound will be much better by then. Poor little chap is beginning to make a dash for it when he sees the eye drops looming towards him!
-
I bet he does but he needs them. Hope that he is a lot better by nexr week ;D
-
I'm glad he's making good progress. You know he must be feeling better when he runs away from the eye drops! Jaffa has had to have eye drops a few times for conjunctivitis and it took all my cunning to get them in him for 5-7 days.
-
Aw, glad to hear that the vets were pleased with the progress. I know Max was getting pretty peeved with eye drops after 2 weeks, but its for the best, and I'm sure they know that deep down
Give him a gentle head rub from me and Maxy x
-
Glad things seem so positive, let us know how he gets on
-
Feeling really great after Archie's trip to the vet this afternoon. The vet said his eye had healed and he did not need to check it for three months. Archie will be celebrating no more eye drops! ;D
-
Just caught up with this thread - poor Archie! So glad he is on the mend :) What a worry they can be, eh?
-
Great news! ;D I'm sure Archie will be delighted to see the back of the eye drops.
-
Wonderful news ;D
-
Am glad to hear that.
-
That's excellent news ;D Well done Archie :Luv:
-
Well done Archie ;D
Glad he's feeling better :)
-
Hope Archie makes a quick recovery
-
Great news ;D Does the vet think his sight will be affected at all?
-
Thanks for all your messages. The vet thankfully thinks Archie's sight will be fine and it will be checked again in three months. What a relief. However it would appear that he still has not learn't his lesson. If he sees our resident hedgehog, Spikey, in the garden he tries to push and tap it. Well, last night he finally found out that its best to give Spikey a wide berth. My son heard a big yowl just before coming in time and rushed outside to find Archie by Spikey looking pained! Lets hope there will be no more accidents!
-
There one phrase that springs to mind curiosity killed the cat lol
glad Archies feeling better I'm sure he'll make a full recovery with such a loving owner to take care of him. Gimley and Phoenix asked me to pass on headbutts for Archie
-
So pleased that Archie is OK.
-
Thats brill :Luv:
-
I do hope Archie has learned that Spikey is not for him
-
Max sends some cheesy blobs to Archie as a get well pressie,
Glad hes on the mend
-
Thank you all so much for you kind thoughts. I think Archie has realised if you poke a hedgehog its going to hurt!
