I still can't figure out how best to describe Squaw. (For those of you who missed it, I'm taming two feral kittens..)
Her face is tabby. She has stripes on her body, but they are creamy coloured with ginger splodges. One leg is tabby but the foot is creamy orange coloured. She's sort of 70% tabby with a bit of tortie thrown in.
Has anyone got a name for this kind of colouring? :-:

She'll be a tortie tabby then ;)
-
....or a tabby tortie :P
-
Now I'm very confused. I Would have always called her a brown tabby. At least that's what I thought our Paddington was. He was sort of ginger and healthyfood brown tabby, with a gingery creamy tummy and underside of tail and a bit of white under his chin and mouth.
No matter what she is, she is absolutely gorgeous and I wish I could have another one. But OH says 3 cats is enough.
PS I'm sure I typed chocolate and not healthyfood (Schokolade)

Exactly what I was going to say, she's a beauty :Luv:
-
Oooooo Paddington is gorgeous! ;D ;D
-
Stunning :Luv: Looks just like one of my neighbours cats :Luv:
-
This is another pic of her coat - sorry she's a little blurry.
I guess I'll settle for tabby-tortie... or tortie-tabby.
I'm nuts about the pair of them. But if I kept them, I could take the next batch, could I? :(

She is gorgeous and very much like the feral tabbies I've just caught :Luv: :Luv: I still have to sex my other 2 yet but waiting until they are a little less hissy, spitty.........at around 4 months old, they will be little minxs until I manage to build up the trust :sneaky:
Can't you persuade hubby by putting him on a promise :oolala: And by the time these babes are integrated with yours, you will have the cage to take some more ;) I was only ever allowed one cat but when you start doing the rescue side of things especially with the ferals, it does escalate and when you've got over 20, you stop counting :evillaugh:
-
 She's a muddle! :Luv:
-
Is that what's meant by a torbie? I've heard of the word torbie but never really understood exactly what it meant. I would assume that's tortie and tabby coat colours/patterns together?
-
Squaw is adorable :Luv:
-
I was thinking Torbie too Susanne, it an American term i think. Not sure if its an offical word or something they made up :-:
-
Hmm... Torbie? :innocent: I like it! ;D
It's better than what my leg pulling eldest calls them = "Those pikey kittens". :evillaugh:
TBH, I think OH loves them as much as me. He came down from their room with a tear in his eye because he got them to purr in tandom. :Luv: :Luv:
But what's been wonderful for us is seeing the transformation in them - can't wait to do it again! :wow:
-
how about tri-tabby?
-
Torbie is just the American term for tortie-tabbie (or tabbie-tortie)
Here is my very own tortie-tabbie and white

She's beautiful, Lyn-Su. :Luv: She really is a blend, isn't she? :wow:
I must confess I've seen tabby and ginger in patches of solid colour, but I've not seen this 'blending' of the two types. Squaw has classic tabby legs, but with creamy orange patches on her ankles, and three black feet and one bright cream/gingery. But I find her body captivating.. :shy:
She certainly is a muddle... :evillaugh:
I just hope her new meowmy thinks she's as special as I do.
Her brother is a perfect example of grey tabby. :Luv:
-
I'd definately say totie tabby .. the other way round dont sound right :evillaugh: I guess coz she's mainly a tabby with abit of tortie thrown in :-:
either way she and the litter mate are just gorgeous :Luv:
-
I Can't see much of the tortie, but she would be classed as a patched tabby - cats that are mainly tabby with the odd bit of tortie are patched tabbies, and where they have tortie markings but tabby stripes in the black are tortie-tabbies. Some Americans do class torbies as something different!!
-
One of my fav colours. A Nawty Tortie Tabby :Luv: :Luv:
She is superb - that wonderful plume of a tail :Luv:
-
Just beautiful, can we have pics of her brother too please :evillaugh:
-
I would say Tortie- tabby. Shes a little doll.
Good on you for helping the ferals PB.
-
Torbie? Sorry, new here and just joined this forum because I also have a 3 tabby cats with ginger stripes/marks, and didn't know what to call their colouring(I don't know how to post pictures yet), but after searching on the net I think they are called classic brown torbie, a mix of tabby & tortoiseshell :)
-
sorry, but haven't we had this conversation before?
-
Beware in internet! You'd be surprised what comes back to haunt you.
Squaw was rehomed around 5 months ago. I gather she and her brother, Apache, are doing well in their new home. :naughty:
-
I was getting deeply confused ...  Thanks for the clarification PB and glad to hear they are getting along well, always a relief I am sure ...

I would say they are tabby because of them M on their forehead.

Squawbie :Luv:

I miss the pair of them like crazy. If I'd have had the room, I would have kept them. :( But then again, since they moved on I have tamed and rehomed a further 14 feral kittens. ;)
-
Well done :wow:
-
You were so brave to part with these two PB.....me miss their gorgeousness too! :Luv: :Luv:
