Looks like Pearl will be needing some dentistry done in the near future... :tired:
No idea what the little moo has been doing, but she's knocked out one of her bottom incisors. Well, more specifically, she's knocked out half of it and left the bottom half in. So of course it will have to come out before things turn nasty.
What would I be expecting from the vet regarding feline dentistry?
-
When clapton had two teeth out (he has had extractions about 4 times) the vet charged £80.00 - usually gets over it in no time.
-
Max had a dental a few years ago, 2 extractions and a full scale and polish, together with antibiotics etc, think it was about £130 from memory!
He was absolutely fine, eating his dry food again in no time, and wolfed down food as soon as he came out of his carrier, even though the vet said he'd probably be groggy and off his food :evillaugh:
-
Hi Witty can't help vet wise just wanted to send the gorgeous Pearl cuddles xx :evillaugh: :evillaugh:
-
Hope Pearl gets her pearls sorted soon :Luv:
-
Thanks Ellie! You'll have to winkle her out from under my bed first though... :evillaugh: :evillaugh: :evillaugh:
I have to go past the vet's surgery on Friday, so I'll drop in to book her an appointment to get her teeth checked out.
-
I can't remember how much it cost to have three of Blip's teeth out a couple of years ago, but it wasn't all that much even though one of the affected teeth (FORLs) was an upper canine. Even with Metacam she was miserable for several days afterwards though, but I am sure that was because of the canine, so Pearl should sail through.
-
Well, I've just come back from town - have booked madam into one of the free dental check slots tomorrow after lunch and I guess we'll take it from there.
I rather suspect it will be a course of antibiotics to get the redness down and then back after the bank holiday to have the offending bit of tooth removed.
Will keep y'all posted.
-
Madam is booked in on Tuesday morning for her dental - I have to drop my little princess off at the surgery at 9 am and all being well, will have her back by tea time. I'm going to be one heck of a nrevous meowmy. :-[
As I thought, the vet said that the broken tooth needs to come out, along with the squiffy one that's next to it. He said it's better to do it now before it gets infected as it's a lot less hassle for her in the long run. Good side is that it's not infected yet, so no need for any antibiotics.
On the whole, he was quite impressed with madam Pearl's gnashers though ;D
-
Awwww bless the gorgeous Pearl
I am sure she will feel much better after getting the two offending teeth out :)
We shall be thinking of you both on Tuesday and sending you both lots of
-
Thanks Ellie, much appreciated.
Madam and Toby are hacked off that I've taken all the food away...
I'm so nervous about my little girl being at the vet's all day. :-[
-
Aw, Pearl will be fine
Don't worry, and she'll be a whole lot better without the troublesome teeth.
-
She'll be fine! Try not to worry (I know you will though) and give her a hug from me when she comes home this afternoon.
-
I'm sure she'll be absolutely fine and feeling better when her teeth are sorted. What time can you phone up to find out how it all went? I would say try not to worry too much but I know that it's easy to say and impossible to do so have a hug instead
-
I have to phone the vets at 3 to find out how it went. Everything crossed here - I'm missing her loads and so is Toby. :-[
The nurse loved the fact I'd brought Pearl's favouritest catnip cushion for her comfort. :Luv:
Will let you all know how things went, of course. :shy:
-
Good luck to Pearl! I'm sure she'll be fine. Jaffa came back from his dental full of beans and acting like nothing had happened. And very hungry!
-
Just called the vets...
They haven't done her yet. :tired: They had to bump her down the priority list to take in a couple of emergencies which is fair enough.
They'll call me back at five, and if she hasn't been done, I'm bringing her home and making an appointment for another day. Again, will keep y'all posted.
-
Good news! ;D
The vet nurse phoned at 5 - Pearl has had her dental and came through it like a trouper. I pick her up at 6, can't wait to get my special little girl home. :Luv:
She is also apparently eating the vet surgery out of house and home - she was tucking into her tea as I was being phoned. :evillaugh:
-
Excellent news :) You do realise that she will need lots of extra treats and cuddles to aid her recovery now ;D
-
Aw bless her, glad she's been such a brave girl :Luv: ;D
-
She's home! :cheer: :Flowers: :cuddle:
I'm so relieved to have my little girl back. ;D The vet was really pleased with how she came through the procedure and everyone at the surgery was giving her lots of fusses. They loved her and said she was such a little sweetie. ;D She goes back on Thursday for a follow-up but in the mean time she is not allowed to have any dry food.
Madam was so pleased to be home though, and Toby was thrilled to have her back - the first thing he did was wash her from top to toe! :Luv:
Pearl has since polished off half a tray of Sheba terrine with chicken and a large dollop of Aberdeen Angus beef mince and had lots of cuddles. She is now curled up on my bed, fast asleep.
-
Awww well done Pearl :Luv: I'm so pleased she's okay and she's managing to eat okay  Hope her follow up all goes okay for Thursday :)
-
am glad to hear that, and find it interesting she isn't allowed any dry, not heard that after dentals before.
-
Yep, she's been fine today, scoffing whatever I put down for her. ;D Also, her gum has healed nicely where the one and a half teeth were taken out. Can't see any probs with her follow up tomorrow.
Des, I have a South African vet (husband & wife team actually) so am wondering whether it may be a recommendation particular to their training. I can see the sense of it though TBH as it stops crumbs jabbing at the extraction site.
Madam certainly hasn't complained about her recovery diet of Aberdeen Angus beef mince though! :evillaugh: And of course, Toby had to check to see if it was suitable for her to consume. ;)
-
am glad to hear that, and find it interesting she isn't allowed any dry, not heard that after dentals before.
Sean told me Billy's not allowed dry for a few days as well......strictly wet food only.
So pleased Pearls back to her usual self :Luv: Billy sends her big headbutts and purrs :)
-
So glad she doing well :Luv:
-
So pleased she is doing so well ;D
-
Hmm, must be the new way of thinking with dentals - Ginger was odd and preferred dry after his!!
-
Madam had her post-dental check-up this morning, which she passed with flying colours. :cheer:
The vet said that her mouth has healed really nicely and that she can go back to eating whatever she wants. When I gave her some lunch, she want straight to the crunchie bowl and had a good scoff. :hungey:
I personally reckon that she's been happier in herself since she's had the problem teeth removed, so I'm glad it's been done. ;D
Pearl just wants to thank everyone for all the good wishes and hugs. :thanks:
-
Well done Madam Pearl, glad the vets are happy, and that you can eat whatever you like again now ;D
-
I'm glad it all went well and that she's fine ;D
I don't recall being told not to feed Jaffa dry food after his dental.
