My next door neighbour has recently had a baby (2 months ago to be exact) and she 2 weeks ago had an 8 week old kitten,they have named it Ramsus,ok no problems there you say.
Now I have only seen him for the first time today but my OH has seen Ramsus out on the street numerous times last week,yes near a street and it can get pretty busy trust me and all my neighbour had to say to my OH when he told her that he was out was "oh well he wanted to go out so I let him out",I mean he's only 10 weeks for Gods sake :censored: :censored:
Today we were talking and she was complaining what a pain in the back side Ramsus was chasing feet,going after the babys hands etc etc. My OH just said that she had better watch the cars around here and it might be an idea for her to keep him in a secluded room in the house until he is bigger and had his full jabs etc etc,she then said "Jabs,what are they?" I mean DUH :censored: Then she said "well if he gets killed he gets killed" My OH then said jokingly "well you'd better watch or my mrs will take him into ours :evillaugh :evillaugh:" then she said I was welcome to him >:(
I mean if she can't be bothered to lookafter him properly why have him? I mean personally I wouldn't have a kitten around a baby anyway but thats my personal view,I am sure others on here will disagree with me. Ramsus is such a sweet and loving cat but I am so worried that one day I am going to get up and find him in the street dead,I know you can't control where cats go but theres a back to our houes where they have big gardens to roam in(thankfully thats where mine go) but he has only been introduced to the road and not the back and OH said other cats are picking on him already :'(

As this women obvously has no interest in the kitten I would suggest the next time you see him ... pick him up and get him inside your house PDQ. He is far to young to be outside on his own. He needs saving and he needs saving NOW!

Thats what my OH said but I don't know how Ging will adapt to having a kitten,he's 17 almost 18.the last thing I want is to stress him out but I am also worried about little Ramsus :(

You will worry yourself silly otherwise. The problem with people like that is will she just get another one a few months down the line? >:(

Yup she will Mark and I'll problably end up with 20 odd cats and be known as the mad cat woman :rofl:
I don't want to steal her cat but I do fear for its safety,if it wasn'g for Ging I would with no doubt,but having 3 males in the house is asking for problems isn't it? :tired:

If this little is only 10 weeks old there should be too much of a problem ... he will know who is the boss and will accept his place at the bottom of the pile. This will at least give you time to find him a more suitable home.

Funny you shouod mention that because looking at him tonight he did look thin but then again he is long. The poor thing problably hasn't been wormed etc either which would contribute to him being thin :( I did see her walk into her house the other day though with a box of pouches from the local pet shop so shes buying him something :evillaugh:

Even if you take him in and then find him a new home - could you not put him in a room away from your old boy for now.
I dont see a problem with having 3 males in the house either, i have 4 males and there are no problems

What also makes me annoyed by this is that the mother cat will possibly go on to have more kittens and the owner will be saying Oh! I can always find good homes for my cats kittens.

If it was me I'd have the kitten and I'd put it in a spare room only until I could find it a new loving home because I think it will have a short life otherwise. Also my 2 old cats would definitely not be happy with a kitten - it wouldn't be fair on them.

You don't have to keep the Rasmus permanently. You could care for him temporarily and find a home worthy of him. :)

you know you wont rest until you know he is safe, well fed, wormed, injections, de-balled etc you know you want him

i agree with trying to find him a better home as opposed to keeping him - I would never recommend a single kitten with an oldie, they have two different energy levels. None of my oldies have ever tolerated anything under the age of 1.

I really think it depends on the cats. There is no hard and fast rule as far as I am concerned. When mums cat Toota was about 16 I bought a kitten from a pet shop as it was being kept in horrendous conditions, I had 22 kittens at the time (in the days when we mixed kittens). But the little one was not to well so Mum had it in a spare bedroom, when it recovered it was allowed out in the house and met Toota who although old for her 16 yrs (more like a cat in her 20’s) loved the kitten and it gave Toota a new lease of life, she became agile once again and seemed to enjoy life much more. Toota had almost another 3 years of quality, happy life. (Oh! and Sammy never left mums, she adopted him)

I really think it depends on the cats.
True. Old Mog is actually the best at coping with our current lodger. She has a "mummy cat hiss" that puts the little one firmly in her place. My youngest, however, isn't happy at all. Ember plays too rough for her, and because she's nervy by nature it doesn't help matters much!
Have your cats met Rasmus?(Ramsus.) Are you definate they'd be unhappy? Maybe try the little one at yours and organise a "back up home" in case it goes awry. If you can think of anyone that is! I was fairly fortunate in the fact that I knew at some point soon my cousin would be looking for a playmate for her current kitten.

This sounds very familiar, as it is exactly how our bridge babe Momo came to live with us (unresponsible idiot neighbours, who couldn't care less). Please if you can, give it a try and take him in. You never know, your oldie may even enjoy playing and getting a bit of 'kittenhood' back. It certainly worked with my Sam and Buddie.

Sorry I have been spelling his name wrong,apparently its ramses :-[ the male of the house is really into egypt and stuff so thats how he got the name lol
Well theres some improvement in this story,since Sunday Annie (the lady of the house) has been to the vets to get him checked over,had his first jab and wormed,ok she moaned at the cost but at least shes doing these things right? plus shes keeping him in their bedroom confined until he's older. I think all this situation needed was somebody to guide them,they haven't owned a pet before so all this is new to them and we all have to start somewhere right?
She has well and truly stocked up on cat food,I went in earlier and shes got 6 boxes of felix kitten pouches,so theres no need to worry he ain't being starved and he's using the litter try etc
She asked me when was he to have his next jab and I said in two weeks and she also asked about getting him neutured and since shes on benefits I am not sure about this but can she get the neuturing free? Maybe somebody on here could advise me more on that kind of thing.
So all is looking well and she still moans about him but I think its more of a "kidding" moan rather than a "I don't care moan".
Will keep you all updated on the little man as he grows up :Luv:

Nope I live just a few miles out of Llangollen and I know how pushy you are with your cats so no dropping cats by now hear me? :rofl:

Gwen she needs to contact her local CP and they will give her a voucher - either one towards the cost or a full cost one, depends on the branch and her circs. Our guidance is if we think the only way the cat will be neutered is to provide a full cost one then we should do it. Hope that helps.
