How can I make the task of putting Menue in the carry box less stressful? I got the box out today to give it a wipe down etc and she stood hissing at the box then ran away and hid!!! The only way I have been able to get her in the box in the past is to tip it on its end and lower her in backwards!! Tried the whole putting her in backwards with its end against a wall, but its a no go!!

Not any good if you need to use it very soon but might be worth leaving the carrier out so she can investigate it and learn that the carrier being out doesn't always mean she's going to the vets, cattery etc.
Maybe try putting some treats/tuna/pilchards etc in a bowl in the carrier so she has to go in to eat them so she learns to associate sitting in it with nice things.
Spraying it inside with Feliway 15-20mins before you pop her in it might help as well.

I've learnt that some carriers are harder than others to get a cat in and out of...
The archetypal plastic front opener can be a right nightmare mainly because the front opening is so small and the carrier is quite dark inside.
By far the best are either the top opening wire ones you see a lot of at shows (open lid, drop cat in, close lid quickly, put latch pin in). They are more expensive but they do last. The other easy type to get a cat in is the clamshell Avior - that's one of the features that attracted me to it in the first place.
I think of your cat doesn't like her carrier, then maybe it might well be of benefit to get a different kind that is more appealing to her.

Taz hates all boxes with a passion but is slightly better in the top opening wire type. They also last really well, our one is about 25 years old!
The method where you tip the box and drop them in is a rather good one ;D

I leave our carrier out in the spare room with a nice comfy towel in the bottom. The towel is spray with cat nip spray.
This way my lot play in it occasionally, sometimes one of them can be found asleep in it ... but they are no longer scared of the "Vet box".

The box I have is a cheapo from argos and is... crap!!! I was going to get one from Tesco direct that looked alright. I have used the white wire ones in the past with other cats, but we used to rent it from a pet shop near my mums. I havent seen any wire ones to buy all there seems to be is plastic ones!!

I've got one like this (if the link works!) http://www.dabners.co.uk/product-2476-ferplast-atlas-10-open-cat-carrier-189-x-128-x.html It's great because I found it easier to get Sooty into the box, and out of it again at the vets, from the top - but once the vet had finished with him, I would open the front door and he would run in himself, and run out again back home. I think it gives the best of both worlds and my one fits all 4 of my bunnies at a time so it's pretty sturdy.

I do the same thing, I have turned the cat carry box into one of Ozzy's beds, got one of my old fleeces whch smells of me (mmm yummy lol) and I never have any problems getting her in.

Make sure you read the sizes, I did and was horrified that they so small......12" high grrrrrrrrrr.
Bang goes the thought of replacing the one that came with the birmans, too small and too expensive >:(
