Title: Looking for a pair of cats (Essex)
Post by: fluffybunny on August 12, 2007, 18:27:52 PM
I'm sure some of you already know that we lost my 20 year old boy a couple of weeks ago.  Well we are now starting to really feel the emptiness of the house and so are tentatively starting to look for some new bundles of joy to fill that hole.

I'm away last week in August (although hubby is still at home :evillaugh:) so we will probably be looking to adopt around the first week in September.

We are looking for a pair of middle-aged-ish cats, colour and gender not an issue; much more important to get the personalities to fit in with us.  We are a quiet adult only household (although we're about the 'right age' we both hate children, much preferring animals instead )  Only other pets at the property are a group of 4 (neutered) rabbits but they have their own enclosure so no interaction.  We live in a quiet location in a little village near Chelmsford in Essex with very little traffic.

Happy to be homechecked, I volunteer for a couple of rabbit rescues who I'm sure would also give me a reference if needed (although obviously they know more about my rabbit caring skills rather than my cat ones!), as would my vet I'm sure.

Please PM me if you know of any potential felines to match make us with!

*waves* hello!  Does your rescue still rehome to these parts, looking at the website they seem to stop rehoming at Witham and we're about 20 minutes further on than that  :-:  The only rescue I can find whose area we are in is Chelmsford CPL but can't get their website to work!

Who ya got @ Colchester then, have you still got Tazzy and Chewy I liked those two!  I'm also rather fond of Blackie and Diane although I'm not sure I could persuade hubby to rehome teenagers  :(

Thanks for all the links, clearly I'm in the company of far more experienced pet searchers    Ideally we're looking for aged 7+ I think, preferably 'long termers' who keep getting overlooked for stupid reasons like fur colour.

Arrrr I'm so pleased for them!

If I could persuade hubby to go for a pair of 13 year olds, do you reckon you'd rehome outside of your normal area??  Have they been with you a long time?  Does the 6 week petplan insurance thingy still work for cats who are older than they would normally start insurance for??

Questions questions  :evillaugh:

Pet Plan will cover them cos they are vet checked which is rather cool  ;D so many companies ignore the over 10's. Meanies.

You are quite right, however, I know someone who has just insured a 14 yr old with nSainsburys and the cat has not been vet checked.

M&S and Sainsburys will ensure older cats  ;D

I am sure you will find just the ones for you and we will all be waiting to see who you have got

Hi!  I have had Boris and Benny with me since the end of June.  They are both 6 years old, both black and very very friendly.  They love people and love nothing more than following you around the garden, nosing about - they don't wander far.  They have been overlooked for kittens and other more "colourful" cats.  They are both black.  We are happy to rehome outside the area if homechecks can be done.  I am in NW Kent, about 15 mins from Bluewater.  They are neutered, microchipped, fully vaccinated, deflead and wormed and are both having their dentals done today.

If you would like any more info please have a look on our website www.anim-mates.org.uk which has a link to my telephone number or PM me!

Thanks, Dx
