Helllo all
Had an email through today from a equine centre in Kent that wants some feral/farm cats... Is there anyone out there that has some cats in a desperate situation that a home like this could be the difference in between life and death...so to speak.. We very rarely get involved in ferals....Pls have a think about it, but bare in mind i have yet to respond to the people and you need to bare in mind transport.. I just thought of giving some desperate cats a chance, before i spoke to them...
Just a thought and no guarantees until i speak to them..They sound very knowledgable people , with acres of ground/land...

You beat me to it PB ;D

Can someone give me details of tel number etc..?Only trouble with Cecia H is do they have to do HC only a few miles from their sanctuary! Anyone who offers a home to ferals my way is like gold dust and i have in the past managed to find a place in less then 24hours just by knowing how committed they were..
Would CH be able to be involved in this?
-
Was there a thread to this some where as i seem to remember it appearing on a page? Just had a look at their website and nothing there...
So i have all the facts that is..........

I can't see why not, it's the answer to their prayers. My friend knows Celia, not sure if she could help but give us a shout if she can.

I think in this situation they would be willing to work something out or they are very stoopid  when you have that many cats to sort out a home in the next county has got to be a good thing.
-
I am on the case! Pinkbear its near Chillenden, thats nr you isnt it?
They are ringing me back, and will email the other people as well who want to rehome them... Could work if the plan comes together.
-
Fingers crossed :luck:
How many do they want?
-
Yes, Chillenden rings a bell.. :-:
Anything I can do to help any parties involved, I'd be extremely pleased to assist. :wow: :wow:
How many do they want?
Don't you mean, how many can we TELL them they want?
-
I was told they were going to ring me back, but they havent yet! Abit disappointed to say the least. Give them the benefit of the doubt, but a great home awaits if they ring me asap.

Sharon, it could be that the poor souls are all out trapping.. :evillaugh: :evillaugh:
If you explain to the stables the plight of these London cats, and they would make a perfect pest controllers and these are cats who would otherwise be PTS, surely they'd give you a few days grace while plans are put in place? I'll do a home check in advance if it's helps the situation?
;)

Any news?

Well....
I have now - almost - convinced these stables to wait for my feral kittens. They seem to have fallen in love with them. It almost certainly seemed fate that I took the call about these kittens only a day after this request coming in, and this is the first report of ferals, and the first request to home them, that we've had since I started volunteering for Canterbury CP. :wow:
CH failed to return our calls... :tired:

Do you want me to see if I can get her mobile number for you? I'm pretty sure my friend has it.
-
Thats a shame, they must be mega busy as those cats are very needy so to ignore you wouldnt make sense :-:
-
These folks are coming round to mine in a week or so to see the kittens. I shall ask if they want more, but they did orginally say only 2. I'll keep you posted, Dawn. :sneaky:

I've got Celia's mobile numbers now so if you need them, give me a shout :)

Wouldn't it be better to get them to have older ferals rather than kittens :shy: The kittens should be young enough to tame down and I know a stable life can be a good life for them, but I always like to see youngsters in homes rather than living a life of outdoors :tired:

I defo agree with that ;)
It would be hard for the peeps not to interact with the little cutties :scared:

I agree, Dawn... but this woman, although she said she wanted "ferals", has only ever had domestics. When I first contacted her about my babies, she kept saying things like "Do you think they might become tame once they know us? It would be nice if they came into the house... I miss my old cat sleeping by the fire in winter. "
In short, I think what she wants are semi ferals or just nervous domestics who'll patrol the stables but still come home for tea. :sneaky: So even if I don't manage to get these kittens 100% tame, they've still found a billet. ;) But once I've actually been there, I'm going to tempt her round to the idea of adults as well. :evillaugh: I'll tell her about the Olympic cats and that we were trying to get some for her before the kittens arrived. Now... a pair of them for the tougher ratting would be just the things to teach the kittens what being a farm cat is about. ;) :evillaugh:

now that's a very good point also! ;)

I would also make sure that she's prepared to keep them in until they are old enough to be venturing out on their own, and also until they are spayed/neutered ;)
-
Dawn, they'll stay with me until they're neutered. ;)

She'll deffo need some adult ratters then as those too are going to be used to eating chicken for breakfast
