Title: Outdoor Scratch Post
Post by: sheryl on August 01, 2007, 09:37:16 AM
Hi all,

We have nearly finished the outdoor run for the babies and now I need to kit it out, I have seen somewhere on the net scratch posts for outdoors made of wood ( I think someone on here may have posted a photo of their kitty sitting on one?) does anyone know where we can get one please? ;D

Have you a wood near you? In one of my outdoor pens I have a branch from a tree that the cats can use for a scratching post, also it has a tyre hanging  on smaller branch that they can sit on and swing and they also use the main part  to run up and get onto a shelf which they love and sit there for hours.

Thanks Ela, we have got a big branch and I have hung up some bamboo wind chimers but OH has decided that we have GOT to have a wooden scratch post.

I think Lynn has one...  Here is an old thread of hers with a youtube video of Cody on it.  It doesn't say where she got it from but if it's the right type you could always PM her.

Theres a photo of one somewhere - someone made one using a fencing post and stake. They then added platforms to it - thought it looked good and must be cheaper than a bought one.

I posted this pic a while back, it was just an ordinary fence post hammered into the ground with a metpost, platforms attached with shelving brackets, and an acorn finial put on the top as a finishing flourish!!  ;D

I also got a ready made one from catplaystations

I am going to order a Cattaladder for our FIV pen. I am sure the cats will love it.

Our FIV cats have 2 or 3 in their 'safe haven ' but I thought a Cattaladder would be an extra attraction for them.
