Just received this email, if anyone can help, can they ring Freshfields direct or contact Michelle, :thanks:
Are there any contacts ouit there to help? 25 dogs due to be killed at Abergele dog pound THIS Friday, they include white GSD male, 14 collies, several cross jack russells, cross labradors.Any offers of help?
tel Freshfields animal rescue centre 01286 880808.oir ring Michelle at dog pound 07833653350 who is desperately trying to rehome these dogs. So far she has had only 2 offers of help with a few of the collies and Paws recscue in Gwynedd who can take 3 dogs only.

sorry I can't help but I have cross posted onto the hovel in case there is anyone on there who can.
fingers crossed.
-
Have crossposted this & also left a message with janyne at german shepherd rescue
-
Thanks, I'm trying not to think about them too much as I really can't help :'( Just been onto our local rescue and they are chocca but are aware of the situation.
-
Dawn, do you know if the Rough Collie Rescue in the Midlands has been approached to help?
Their website for contact details: www.roughcollierescue.org.uk
-
Have you posted on Pet Rescue UK?
They have a "Pets in Danger" section.
-
All I've done is posted on here, not sure who's been contacted or whether it's been put on anywhere else. I know Mags was cross posting and so was Sam. I've just got back in from the vets and have to go out again shortly to sort some ferals out. If anyone can post elsewhere or make enquiries, I'd really appreciate it

Will be in Cheshire this weekend with a hire car, a passenger, dog and a new cat but can probably squeeze one extra dog in the back if it is friendly and calm (have a dog restraint I can use) if someone down this way needs transport to get one here. It can stay in the back garden overnight if it is not housetrained.

Jayne at german shepherd rescue has phoned me back & someone already has sent the same email to her & she will try to do something but shes over run with dogs just now & no where to put them & now has a serious setback to the rescue financially that is effecting the dogs that the rescue has & any future dogs especially the at risk dogs, the rescue now as the added burden of seeking legal action

I emailed Ros from the Rough Collie Rescue last night.
She has contacted Michelle at the Pound, apparently most of the collies were borders and went to the Border Collie Trust in Staffs yesterday.
-
I know Pet Rescue UK have emailed their members
-
Dawn try Sarah and Paul at Wiccaweys BC Rescue they have lots of contacts and usually can help especially with the BC side of things and knowing them with most of the others they are wonderful people who will give their last for animal welfare
Phone Number 07905 203254

Thanks Liz, I've had to email as I've no credit and my mobile and we've got a block on ringing out to mobiles cos of kids :sneaky:
-
Not sure about this but heres a reply on anther site
I have just spoken to Michelle at the dog pound on 07833653350 and she stated that the rumour that 25 dogs are being put to sleep is not only nasty but totally untrue.
She did say they had to put down two dogs down last week because of serious ill health, but they do not put down any healthy dogs.
So you can all stop worry now, because according to Michelle these dogs are in good hands until they find a new home.
-
phew!!
-
Thank you for that - quite a relief :thanks:
-
It's a strange world where folks thinks this kind of rumour is okay. Whoever started it had better be watching for a liable action to come through their letterbox.
Isn't there enough madness and suffering in this world without the need to invent it? >:(
-
but they do not put down any healthy dogs.

I'm confused now by this about them not putting to sleep.......I will double check tonight. I'm pretty sure at one of our meetings, the inspector was saying the Abergele Pound keep dogs one week and then they are pts. Our local rescue also told me this as they have a no kill policy so it's chocca all the time.
-
Council run pounds dont work like rescues, dogs that are brought in as strays are given 7 days either the owner claims the dog back, or a rescue takes the dog after the 7 day period. Theres odd times when a dog/s are given a wee bit more time. Or the pound ( depends on the pound I suppose) rehomes from there?
Dogs that are surrended by the owner are given 24 hours either the onwer claims the dog back or rescues takes it or rehomed .
Either way dogs are PTS by the pounds where some rescues have a no kill policy & do the best to rehome them. The amount of pups/dogs ending up in pounds not all of them will be lucky to find a rescue space/rehomed.....theres more pups/dogs then responsible homes & rescues/pounds can only cope/struggle with so many of them.
-
I know one of the pounds in this area, they keep for 7 days and then they are pts :'( :'( The inspector wasn't there tonight so couldn't ask him about the Abergele Pound but have emailed a couple of peeps to get them to verify the info that's been forwarded on.
-
I have to say this is all very sad news.... >:( :(
We have a dog warden. She's a lovely woman. I know she's supposed to move dogs on after 7 days, but she just keeps them until she's found them a home. She's always round the town sticking posters up appealing for homes. And she's very successful. :wow: But it's a small town and not too many cases for her to deal with.
Where is the Dogs Trust in all of this...??? :shify: They're the biggest dog rescue in the country and they've got a no PTS policy.
-
Just to say all 14 collies are safe now - the news is on the Wiccs site.
-
Right, I'm confused. Are these dogs being PTS or not?
*Sorry, that sounds really harsh but it's pretty disturbing news and I've read it on a few sites now. I'm a bit unclear as to what is actually happening.*
-
Right, I'm confused. Are these dogs being PTS or not?
I've not been able to get confirmation either way but I would say it was true as I've had a few emails about the same thing.

The person that posted that on another forum has also posted this reply?
*Have you ever thought that this rumour was started by someone to just get a reaction from dog lovers to get these dogs rehomed sooner rather than later, irrespective of where they are going or with whom.*
So if its all untrue then how come this then .....
Just to say all 14 collies are safe now - the news is on the Wiccs site.
PS is this on the wiccaweys forum or on the site cos i had a wee look for it & didnt see it ...unless im looking in the wrong bit
-
If it was :censored: I doubt very much Freshfields would be involved either, they have been put down as a contact number, as soon as our phone is working I will find out either way.
-
I've just had an email off the "South West Animal Protection" and they are looking into it for me, I will update when I hear back from them.
-
I dont know if its to late for these dogs as it states friday, :-: obviouslythey want offers in the area as transport would be a problem?
-
Hopefully it isn't too late but I honestly couldn't say :'( Re transport, when AR's get involved, this isn't usually a problem, they have a large network as you know and usually something can be sorted so distance isn't usually a problem.

Any use with regards to clarifying the situation?
:evillaugh: @ RR.

RR, Welsh as a language isn't as hard to learn as some I can think of. tIt's unlikely that very many dogs understand it, even so if you do get one, just say to it "nos da" and it'll curl up and go to sleep. ;)
The really difficult thing is talking to talking to French cats - especially Parisien cats! :talk:

Sorry info was on the Wiccs forum
