This is the dismissive reply I had from vets now. Wonder if they'll actually DO anything? (Should maybe start a new thread about this?)
Thank you for your email, I am sorry that you were unhappy with the level of service provided by our Birmingham Clinic.
Vets Now take all complaints very seriously, all are investigated. Any training issues highlighted, are then acted upon.
I will now start an investigation into your concerns and will contact you in the near future with a response.
Thank you for bringing your concerns to my attention, it is important that clients bring their concerns to our attention to ensure that we continue to provide a high standard of care.
Kind regards

I would give her a week and if no proper reply , get in touch again.
Obviously she or someone needs to look into this..................ummmmmmmmmm or find a suitably worded excuse.
Your next email could be that you are now taking this to the place that in theory deals with complaints against vets. I am sure Dawn or someone will tell you what its called cos I have forgotton.
Do you want me to split this thread into two, starting with your email post and if so what do you want the new thread to be called?
-
Woo Hoo I'm so pleased Polly is better and that you didn't take the advice of vetsUK.
It's good that they replied to your email and hopefully they really will investigate.
Big hugs to you and Polly   :Luv: :Luv:

Have been off the forum for a while recovering from looking after Polly. She's fine now.
Thanks Gill, could you split this, and call the new thread 'Polly's complaint re: Vet's Now' please.
Thanks Sam, it's horrifying to think that some clients might have taken the advice!
-
Am glad she is fine now.
-
It's good to hear that Polly has recovered.
-
I think I split this right but if not please let me know ;D
-
Glad to hear Polly's OK. :)
I hate that it's all about the money to so many people!

She's just given me the best birthday pressie ever: she chased Sam round the bedroom, then played with my old hair toggles! I'm letting her out now for a few hours in the evening.
What concerns me most about the vets now fiasco, is that many would have had her pts on the advise of a half asleep, uninterested vet (who was supposedly ready-for-all-emergencies; more like I'd disturbed his beauty sleep!) and not have a happy oldie, but a dead one. This maddens me more than the cost or inconvenience. All that is water under the bridge now she is so much better. I can't help thinking: "what if it had been someone else, someone who took him at his word?" People of my mother's generation believe that doctors and vets are like gods, and their word is law; they don't stop to question whether they are wrong. Many younger people still think the same way.
I feel for all the other puddies this vet has casually condemned to be pts when it wasn't necessary.
If I haven't heard more from vets now by the beginning of next week, I'll get in touch again.
I don't like to say anything to my own vet because he is excellent and may consider it a criticism of the practise, rather than of vets now. I wouldn't want to offend him, he really pulled Polly round.
-
Fingers crossed they take your complaint seriously.

Happy Birthday! What a great birthday present from Polly!
I would try to get a name of someone to send my letter to, rather than fire it off to a general admin email, if possible. Good luck. You and Polly have a good day.
You are so right that people trust doctors and vets etc and also I think the docs and vets intimidate people too. They certainly don't like being second guessed or having loads of questions fired at them. You get a 'reputation as a difficult patient/client'. They need to learn a little humility.
Before you write, have you thought about exactly what you want as a result from this awful experience - an apology, a review of Vets Now procedures and advice? just a thought.

Couldn't agree more. Why do they get so defensive when you ask questions? I feel that it's my responsibility to find out as much as I can about a problem - mine, my family or my pets - before I make important decisions. It makes perfect sense to me. I wouldn't just take anyone at their word, especially if I thought there were alternatives to be explored.
So glad Polly's doing well.
