We took her in this morning to have the cyst removed from her cheek and to also be microchipped (as we're definetly having her, and having that done whilst under a general is perfect timing).
The vet is also going to look at her teeth for us, he had a very quick look, as she is a squirmer!, and said that hopefully it's not the stage of removal, but that a clean up will make things better, though he said he wont know for sure till he can have a proper look.
We explained that we're paying the full price for the chipping and half the cost of the cyst removal, but not for the dental work (I think the vet agreed that the charity should pay for this as the teeth should have been picked up on prior to us having her).
Anyway, got to give the vets a call later to see how she got on and then go collect her.
The one thing we both wondered was if it's a cyst removal on the left cheek of her face, a. does it mean that the vet will have to shave the side of her face and b. do you think she'll have to wear one of the collar things especially if they put stitches in.
Am really not sure what the two boys will make of her when she comes home if she does have to wear one! ;D

Thjat's good news about the teeth, hopefully they will just be able to polish them up a bit. They will almost definitely shave the site where the cyst is, it will soon grow back though. I'd think she will have to have a collar too as otherwise she might scratch her face and mess with the wound. Maybe it will bring out the best of your boys and they will start feeling sorry for her and groom her as she can't do it herself?!
Let us know how she is when you pick her up, the boys send her a healing head kiss

I hope Ginnys ok ;D

She's home and she seems such a happy cat!!! ;D
She's still woozy due to the general, but she has been running around the place like a blue **** fly also!
She's had the cyst removed, she only had a little bit of her face shaved so she doesnt look that odd! She's got some dissolvable stitches in which if they're still visable we've been told to take her back in around 10 days time to have them removed or they might start irritating her. She's not got a collar and hasnt once try scratching her face.
She has been chipped so we're really pleased with that, as I have to admit at the weekend she did go out for the first time, and has been a few times since Saturday (we'd had her 2 weeks by then), and every time she's come home - at least that's the worrying bit of cat parenting over!
She has had a scale and polish on her teeth, and the vet did actually remove 2 of the upper canine teeth. We gave her a little food when we got home as advised by the nurse and noticed that she was pawing at her mouth, we were worried she'd got some food stuck, but she seemed ok after a while. We gave her a little more of her tuna not that long ago and there was no pawing at the mouth so assume she's just getting used to there being gaps, but we will obviously keep an eye on her.
We're glad that the vet took out the teeth that were clearly bad, I know our vet was concerned at her teeth and gums - so we're well aware we will probably have a bill in the future to probably remove the remaining teeth as it is probably gingivitus.
We paid our part of the bill (50% of the cyst removal and full price for the chipping) and it come to just over £68, so we're quite pleased - our vets were going to cost double that for just our half but going to the vet we did today is just not an option as it's too far away.
Anyway, she's certainly happy, she's been purring so loudly we could hear her over the tv! We're wondering if the same kind of thing has happened what happened to Suki - when she went in to be de-matted she had a bad tooth removed and she was a different cat!
We've noticed she's still grumbling at the boys when they get too close, but it's not as bad - so fingers crossed things get even better!
-
So pleased things went so well and that price is excellent ;D
Cost £90 just for boosters, worming and health check on 3 cats today.
-
So pleased everything went well for her, it's amazing what difference removing poorly teeth can have on their personalities.
-
Am glad she is home safe and happy, and that is a good price.
-
We're really pleased with how she is now - she had a good nights rest on her favourite piece of fleece in the study.
She's even more of a happy girl now, and we thought she was happy before!, rolling around on the desks or your lap, rubbing her head into your hand, chest, shoulder ... in fact any part of your body! ;D
We're glad the vet did take the teeth out as it probably was causing her some grief and might be why she was particularly grumpy with the boys as I know I would be with toothache!
The pricing is really good yes, the chipping cost £19.99 - the remaining was our half of the cyst removal, but I dont think the dental work will be that expensive for them - I think its a special deal the re-homing centre has with the vets so they probably get charged cost price, not adding on the extra bit - I have a feeling if any one else took a cat in to have the same done that it'd probably cost a bit more.

Glad it all went well at the vets yesterday, give Ginny a headrub from me :Luv:
-
Bless her, she must feel like a new woman...............pics please!
-
Heres a couple of pictures I just took of her on her bit of fleece on my desk.
The only thing we've got to keep an eye out is that as she's had her top canines taken out, we've got to be careful that she doesnt aggrevate her upper gums with the tops of the bottom canines hitting the gums - this is the problem our dear Suki had (and also one of the reasons why people didnt want her - horrid people!).
