Id like to get some evergreen and perennial grasses that will get to around a metre high and are cat safe and friendly so no razor sharp pampuss! :(
Any suggestions? ;D

I grow a lot of a variegated grass that grows about that high. Its called Phalaris, common name is Gardener's Garters (I've never understood why!) Its creamy/greeny stripes and makes big clumps - can be a bit invasive, but its easy to make several clumps from one plant. Its a favourite with my lot, coz they can get right inside the clump and then jump out at some unsuspecting cat - or person!

This is is close up - can't give you a pic of it as it looks in the garden, batteries have just run down!

I think we have some of that out the front, does yours die down at the end of the summer?

Yeh, then during the winter I cut it all hard back, so's nice new shoots can come through - mine got a bit battered by all the rain we've just had! You can also cut it down during the summer too, and new shoots will come through, although I've never had the heart to try cutting it down when its still looking so nice!

Thanks Gillian, i might move some in the back garden as it seems to spread well. I guess i shall have to brave a garden centre to find some evergreen types :scared:
