Dear Friends,
TESCO are now trying to claim that decapitating a turtles head and crushing it is humane.
The Chinese Softshell ( Pelodiscus sinensis ) is well know for the lightning speed of its kneck and head.
Ask yourself these questions ..................
What are the chances of Tesco cutting its head off in 1 attempt ?
If it withdraws its head, which it is very capable of doing, what are they going to do then ?
Wait for it to pop its head out again, just think about it ?
How many pieces of the head would be cut off first, or its legs ?
What are the chances of Tesco destroying the brain with the 1st blow to its head, would they bother giving 2 blows ?
Are the staff really going to ensure that the brain is crushed correctly and killed, day in, day out, or are they just going to sweep the decapitated head away, still alive and suffering ?
Even if Tesco managed to do both first time and correctly, how many seconds does the turtle suffer in pain ?
No stunning is applied before this decapitation and crushing !
The overall question is simple, do you think this method of killing is humane ?
Is this method of killing against all your animal welfare values ?
If it is, please sign the petition.
This is a humane killing issue, all animals deserve the right to die humanely.
Its time to put a stop to this through public pressure !
Let TESCO know you object to it, if you have not already, please sign the petition.
I talked to well over a hundred Tesco customers in depth Saturday, 95% of them were disgusted.
I'll be going back to see Tesco customers again and again, even the staff were appauled .........

I have signed it. but foe some reason on one line there are only US states or armed forces, when I clicked on it said something about Armed forces USA. Europe etc. Something had to be on that line so I just left it. So now I hope I am not Court Marshalled for neglecting to duty and abandoning my post.

Signed ;) didnt they have some Tesco outlets closed because of bomb threats over this.......i know its hard but violence is not the way to beat violence ;)
