One of our fosterers rang me this yesterday to say a mother cat who had two kittens had during the night laid on one and sadly it had died. This morning she rang to say she had taken a mum and 3 kittens to the vets as her other 3 kittens had died during the night. The vet had to put 1 to sleep and the other two looked OK. Virginia had just rung and said another kitten has died, so I expect things are not looking too hopeful for the last little one. I have suggested to Virginia that as soon as possible we will need to get Mum tested as if a Mum cat has FIV the kittens can die within a very short time. The mum come from a home like you see on TV occasionally, cats everywhere and you have to wipe your feet when you get outside. Fortunately we have dealt with the whole situation now although they insisted on keeping a kitten but we will ensure it is neutered/spayed at the right time.

RIP Mum & Little one's :( what a shame

Aww, how sad,
god bless those kitties

sounds like they will be happier on the bridge than where they came from. Pity they could not have the chance to find out that not all humans are bad people :(

The kittens were actually born not long after mum came into our care. Who knows had mum been with us a little longer and she had received good nourishment and been flea and worm free perhaps the outcome would have been different.

Poor wee mites. You do wonder sometimes about the purpose of any great and omnipotent power in all of this. I am finding the stories here quite difficult to comprehend - how anyone could treat animals in the way they are so frequently found to have been treated is incomprehensible to any right-minded being. Compulsory psychotherapy for all offending owners might start to reveal some answers .............

How sad, not sure I would test mum to be honest, as she is being spayed, so if she is carrying something, it wont be passed onto any other babies, and there are lots of things that could cause her to loose kittens. RIP babies.

Oh how sad how is mum and the last baby?

Mum is fine and the kitten did make it through the night, but I am not bothering Virginia again today as she is not well herself.

Sadly the final kitten died today. So now as soon as mum is strong enough and her milk has gone she will be tested and spayed.
