Title: Katkabins
Post by: Wendy Q on July 13, 2007, 12:08:41 PM
Hi everyone,

just wondering if anyone has a Katkabin? I have an outdoor cat run for my 2 Birmans and currently only put them in there if I am in the house so that I can "rescue" them if it rains.  I was thinking of buying a Katkabin so that I could put them in the run if I go out for a couple of hours, safe in the knowledge that they won't get soaked!  I just need to know if the Katkabin would be big enough for 2 cats. Does anyone know?

Thanks

I've only seen them online, not in 'the flesh' but I'd think it would be a fairly tight squeeze for two.  Could the run accomodate a rabbit hutch either with a cat flap or just leave one of the doors open?  That might be a bit better size wise.

I bet two friendly little ones would be able to snuggle up together in one. Then again you could always purchase two and then of they only go into one sell the other on e-bay or donate it to a charity.

They are quite expensive (about £60) so would prefer to only buy one as I know they wouldn't sleep in 2 separate ones.  I've also thought of the white plastic Whiskas cat bed that are sometimes still available on E-bay but again, not sure how big these are

I had a Whiskas cat head bed for Tiggy (which she studiously ignored of course!).  Volume wise it was quite large but surface area wise ie the base where they would actually lay was definitely not big enough for two

We have some Igloo type outdoor beds and you can get them in different sizes.

Hi, thanks Ela, am I able to look at these online?

You can but I have so many sites in my favourites I can’t remember which one it is, however if you look at the gallery on our site address below you will see a couple in the FIV pen. I will have to find the site soon as i want some more for a fosterers cat safe garden. They help to keep the cats cool in summer and are fine for the winter. There are however no cheap. But we have had the ones in the FIV pen for about 3 yrs now and they are as new.
