Title: Removing 'wee' from wood
Post by: Bonker2020 on July 13, 2007, 08:13:44 AM
Next doors Tom came into my house and has 'sprayed' his scent all over my natural wooden floor.
Obviously I cant scrub it out, becuase its soaked into the wood.  Does anyone know of any products that can neutralise this ?

Does a cats scent dissappear over time or will it linger forever more unless there is a product I can use ?  I don't know what to do ?

Please help.

You could try using a solution of bio washing powder mixed with water (keep it watery tho) and let that soak in to the wood....you may have to let this dry and re-peat several times......

Dont use any products containing bleach as this immitates the smell of another cat urinating thus causing a vicious circle  ;)

Simple solution from Pets at home would do it. There are also other enzyme type solutions you can get in pet shops and vets. There is a very good one in a green bottle (I can't think of the name but maybe someone else knows) that you water down. I made up a bucket of if in our old house that had wood floors throughout and mopped it. When it dries, the smell is gone. Are your floors not sealed or varnished?

Wipe generously with Whiskey, Gin, Brandy, Rum or if that is too painful Surgical Spirit.

I suggest you try a little test sq first to ensure no problems
