This might seem a little odd, but I felt I should acknowledge a grey kitten called Jazz - who would've been around 12 this year.
I'm unsure, but I'm pretty sure Jazz was a girl.
When I got my oldest tom, Jazz was a littermate that the couple had taken on too. Both my guy and Jazz had had toilet training issues; they weren't quick learners. Tiny(as my oldest tom was known) weed randomly and Jazz did the opposite everywhere.
When I was offered these two, I didn't feel I'd be able to afford to take both of them as I already had Old Mog. (Little did I know I'd end up with five cats regardless of how stretched finances were!) So I only took "Tiny" as the person I was sharing a flat with preferred him and I knew it would be easier to convince him we could cope with two if it was his favourite. (Just to specify: I don't think I had a favourite. They were both utterly lovely.)
I regret to this day not taking both of them. The unceremonious way Tiny was handed over should've been an indicator of how little these sweethearts were thought of.
Jazz was put in the outhouse as punishment for messing somewhere she shouldn't, and both she and Tiny were recovering from cat flu at the time. The people that had her forgot they'd done it until the next day - and when they checked on her, she'd passed away.
All this happened 12 years ago now, and every time I see a grey cat I feel like crying. Jazz was a sweet, friendly, loving little bundle of fur and was punished because someone didn't have the time or patience to train her properly.
I still can't believe those people could've been so thoughtless.
RIP, Jazz. I'm so sorry I let you down and hope you're happy where you are. :RIP: I haven't forgotten you.

Thnks, CC. My partner says the same and I try not to, but I can't help feeling I let the little 'un down. :(

After we loose a furbabe we always feel like we have let them down, no matter the circumstances. We just have to think that they were too good for this world and hope we see them again one day.

So sad - I know these things play on your mind but it wasn't your fault. :(
If there's any justice, these people will die of hypthermia.

Jack, just remember that Jazz is having a wonderful time now. She's healthy and happy and in a much nicer place. There is little we can do about those sorts of awful people, you weren't to know so don't beat yourself up any longer.

(((Jack))) dont beat yourself up over it - you know it wasnt your fault.
^Jazz^ Sweetie i know you are playing freely at the Bridge and loving every minute of it

Thanks. I'm trying to think that she's happy and loved where she is now. You lot saying it helps!

Such a sad story but definately not your fault
I hope they get what they deserve but Jazz is up there on the Bridge having a whale of a time and I bet shes teaching all the newbies how to send rainbows.

I am so sorry to hear about little Jazz.
I know exactly how you feel (because of TabbyFur) but it was not you, JS, who let her down and there was nothing - nothing - you would have imagined you had to do.

Thanks Gill and Christine.
It's amazing how much it sticks in your mind, isn't it? I bet the people that actually shut her in the outhouse have forgotten all about the incident by now. (Callous people tht they are.)
Perhaps she is teaching the newcomers how to send rainbows. Maybe she and Parsley will have met up by now. :) I hope so.
