Hello everybody, i am new here and just looking for a bit of advice. I have noticed that my cat has started going to the litter tray a lot this evening and doing a tiny little wee and then a lot of licking. I have had a look on the internet and think it might be a UTI and am going to take her to the vets tomorrow morning. I just wondered if anybody knew of anything that I can do tonight to ease any pain she might be having? Is there anything I might have around the house that could help?
Thanks

It certainly sounds like a uti but I really wouldn't know what to advise for making her more comfortable tonight apart from maybe to make sure her water's fresh [if she likes her water fresh, it'll encourage her to drink].
Have you tried any websites for info on feline uti? You may get some ideas...
I hope everything goes ok tomorrow at the vets

No I dont think there is anything you will have in the house that will help, unless its something you have had from the vets for a previous bout.
Hope everything goes well at vets tomorrow.
Welcome to Purrs by the way ;D

Thanks, she seems ok in herself, but they always do! It's just that I know her habits and I can honestly say that I haven't seen her go to the loo this many times in a week before, never mind in a couple of hours. I have had a look on the internet but I cant find any remedies or anything that might help and she has never had anything like this before so I don't have anything from the vets from another time. I'll bring a drink upstairs for her just in case. Thanks for your replies, wish me luck in getting her in the carry case tomorrow!

Yes definately make sure she has enough water and dont forget to mention to the vet that she is also drinking more than normal.

Oh, and if you're taking a drink upstairs for her [good idea] - don't forget a litter tray too!

will do, thanks :)

How did it go at the vets today ?

Hello
Thanks for asking, they said it was cystitis and gave her a jab and some tablets, she is much better already, only been to the tray a couple of times instead of once every 5 mins like it was last night. The vet said that she didn't even need a wee, just thought she did. My other cat was in hiding for 3 hours when he saw the carry case, but is OK now!
