I could scream!
Sam has been back and to to the vets this past two weeks with his poorly paw and its no better still. I have kept him in for nigh on a week hoping it would heal after his last vet visit and he has an elizabethan collar on. I have suffered days on end of his crying as he wants to go outside.
Well I rang today as it was a week since he last saw the vet and it is not much better, they said to bring him in and they may have to do an xray on his paw so no food after 8 tonight. So he was mooching about the house when someone rang the doorbell. It was the usual door to door salesman which I politely tried to surgically remove from my door step whilst juggling with a wriggling cat, dying for his freedom. Arrgh he escapes and runs into the nearby woods complete with his elizabethan collar!!! The f***ing salesman just looked at Sam as he ran off and carried on talking! Well I bit my lip and just bluntly said I needed to go and catch him. How inconsiderate, as if I would be wanting to chat about new windows after that happened?
I am unsure what to do now, I have been out looking for him iin the woods but he has long gone after being kept in for so long. I am quite concerned the collar might cause him more harm if he gets stuck somewhere. oh I wish I had just not answered the door now.

Oh no .... take a deep breath ... calm down and try to relax. I'm sure Sam won't have gone far ... especially in his lampshade
Does Sam come to the sound of rattling food? If so I would take a slow walk down to the woods and rattle some food.
Sending lots of positive vibes that your boy will be back home soon.

Sam is right... well our Sam is right, your Sam isn't :tired: ! I hope he makes his way back. Don't stress out, he probalby just wants to have a breather for a bit.
Can't stand door to door sales. I never answer my door :evillaugh: unless I know someone is coming over. Just annoys Lexy anyway. :evillaugh:

Thanks for the replies, I guess I was a bit stressed already because he has been poorly for a week and didnt seem to be improving. He has a little heart murmur too and it gets worse when he is stressed :(
In answer to your question Sam, he had just been fed so I wont see him for hours now if at all tonight. Quite often he goes walkabout for 12 hours if I have kept him in for any reason, I am sure he is trying to make a point. I guess I will just have to wait it out and if he is not here by morning, ring the vets and explain....I could kick myself though for not shutting him out of the room first.
*breath out and relax* :waiting:

You and me both Ruth. I hate them as much as I hate cold phone calls. I had a bible basher knock at the door last week whenI was really busy. I told him to go forth and multiply :evillaugh:

Oh Debbie I bet Sam is getting his own back for having to wear the lampshade
I am sure he will be back soon and we all send you positives vibes and

Oh Debbie ... what a nightmare! Arrgh! I'd have punched the salesman on the nose to get him out of my way!
Sending positive vibes that Sam comes home sooner rather than later  I think we often worry more than we need to about our babes when they're out when they shouldn't be, or have been out 'too long' etc, try not to worry too much, although easier said than done, I know.

:P :P hope Sam has returned, he is prob making the most of his freedom and be back soon, he might be a bit annoyed and gone into hiding incase his street cred is out the window wearing a lampshade  wot will the neighbours say :tired: :) :sneaky:

Come on Sam ... enough's enough .... get your furry butt back home NOW!!!

Well Houdini returned minus his collar, he was casually lounging on the neighbours shed roof at about 5.15pm yesterday. He didnt actually return until 24 hours later so he well and truly made me sweat it out :tired:
Not sure what to do about his paw, it seems to have improved a little but not quite 100% there yet and seems a bit scabby still. I might leave it another 24 hrs :scared:
Thanks for all the supportive messages everybody ;D

The little sod :shify: So pleased he is safe and well though. He probably went straight round to one of his mates houses and said "Oi get this bloody lampshade off me!"

Phew! Glad he's back, even if he did discard his collar along the way.

Sam has been back to vets again today about his paw and has more antibiotics and another collar. She fitted it this time and so it is a bit more snug. Also I am definitely not opening the door to anymore salesman in the meantime ;)

Get well soon Sam ;)
