There are some CPLs that want indoor only as well. Depends on the rescue I suppose. Have you tried the homing section on here and on Cat Chat to discuss it directly with some of them?

While there are some cats that would be stressed by being kept inside, I think to insist on access to the outdoors is to miss a very important point.
Zoos try (if they're any good) to make their animals environment as close to natural as possible, not by making it look real to our eyes, but to the animals'.
An indoor cat needs, besides a litter tray, food and somewhere to sleep, an environment that it finds interesting.
This may be a bit more difficult than for outdoor cats, but it's far from impossible, and there's the benefit of safety. To a cat, cars, for example, are completely unnatural.

Have you contacted the rescues on the CC page for your area?

Click your county on the map http://www.catchat.org/adoption/index.html (http://www.catchat.org/adoption/index.html) and you'll get a list of rescues.

Breed rescues are always looking for indoor homes for their cats so thats another avenue to investigate  ;D

It sounds like you've been a little unlucky in your search so far, which is a shame.

There will always be cats who require an indoor environment, you could consider adopting an FIV+ kitty as they are best kept indoors to live a long and healthy life.

Don't be disheartened and keep searching  :)

As others have said, there's always a cat out there in need of your help. If you're prepared to take on a cat with special needs, you will certainly find one that can live indoors only.

After being on this site for only a few weeks, I have seen marvels being accomplished...

I see that Cats Protection has a branch fairly near you. I expect if you ask nicely - or we BULLY them into it  :evillaugh: - they'll do a home check for you. I expect someone here probably has or knows of a cat which requires an indoor life. I expect someone else will probably manage to get the cat to you.

So, what you have to ask yourself is whether you're prepared to foresake the dream of kittens jumping all over the bed and being silly, and instead offer a poor old mog his last hope...?

Good luck and keep trying...!

Have you phoned and checked for sure about that particular cat? Exceptions can be made so its worth checking it out.

Would you consider a pedigree? Lots of breed rescues home all over the country so location doesnt matter.
It nice to hear you dont mind about age  ;D

Try ringing the national number for Cats Protection League. Like all the rest, they're run by volunteers, so they get busy when there's not many of them around. But if you leave a message, they will get back to you - especially if you're offering a special cat a home.

Tell them about the trouble you're having. If your local branch doesn't have a cat, maybe the neighbouring ones will?

I've heard before the the RSPCA won't home outside a geographical distance from their centres. But CPs are more flexible. Most of the smaller rescues are happy if they can get an independant home check.

Best of luck!

Wow!

Is this the Cats protection? That was quick.

I'm thrilled for you. Do keep us posted. Even if you don't see one that's right for you this time, once you've got a positive check, it'll only be a matter of time.  ;)

Do keep us posted. Fingers crossed.

That is a shame that some rescues dont mention the FIV+ cats as it might help more of them find a home.

Clare, every time I look at Max I can't believe how much he looks like Doc!  ;D

I know it would make my day if someone asked for a FIV cat, we homed one last week but took in another 2 so we have 6 just now.

I have got some blind kittens that will be looking for indoor homes in a few weeks.......not sure whether you would consider taking a couple of these babes on  ;)  Someone would need to be in most of the time for them though as they will need lots of support etc.

There are a couple of oldies Teresa has that are finding it hard to be rehomed and they would be indoor as well. You have a plethora of choice so hope you get to meet your future master soon xx
