Title: Swap required - Riley for any well behaved cat!
Post by: Tiggy's Mum on June 26, 2007, 18:45:59 PM
I am looking to swap Riley for a well behaved cat/kitten.  All cats considered, age/colour not important... In return you will get Riley a 4 month old, gorgeous, grey and white tabby - he is fully litter tray/scratch post trained.  Unfortunately he is also ridiculously naughty mischievious.  So far this evening he has:

Barged his way out of the front door (way too young to be outside and in any case he is indoor only).

Eaten a leaf from a plant that I have hidden in a cupboard until I find out whether it is bad for cats.

Jumped up on the worksurface and started licking the oil from the frying pan that I just got out - thankfully gas wasn't on yet.

Pounced on the computer monitor while I was trying to type.

Tipped his entire water bowl over while 'digging' around it.

Tried to jump down the toilet as I was getting up from off it.

He is now fast asleep looking as if butter wouldn't melt  :tired:

Was going to offer you Pippa (Guinness and Widgets little sister) but my sister would object.  Though I think the term well behaved and kitten do not belong in the same phrase.  Love the toilet one...can just picture the horror!

It was worth a try   Mosi says that if you play with him for about 5 hours he can manage an hour or 2 of being well behaved.

I will ummmm offer Franta and Ducha, Ducha is a punk and is very sweet but takes up far too much of my bed and Franta lives in a liitle world of his own cos he can hardly hear which maybe means he didnt hear Sasa squealing last night when presumably he got too close to her in the ealy hours of this morning! They are not a gang really! and look so cute both lying on same arm of Sasas sofa.........never have done this before  ;D

Or you could have Misa who is very good at catching mice and bringing em into the house and loosing them!!

I toyed with the idea of offering you Paddy, who is of course (he tells me) supremely well-behaved being a cat of superior years, but he stared me down and I know my place.   :scared:

The kitten days... ah, I remember those. Vaguely - the sleep deprivation, you know.  ;)

At 13 months and 9,5 months, Poppy and Monkey are much much much calmer than a few months ago. Thankfully.

They now sleep through the night. Yes, you heard right: THEY SLEEP THROUGH THE NIGHT! Every night. They settle just about when we do, and then they sleep until morning, when Monkey needs his cuddle in bed with Mummy...

I'd swap you... but I'm not willing to give up mine, and there's no way I'm ready for another kitten yet. Monkey scared me off.  :sneaky: Monkey was kitten from hell. My next cat will be an oldie.

They really are a fabulous duo Helen, don't think I've congratulated you on their arrival yet!

I still have shredded wallpaper in the lounge from Wilkie's formative first year and memories of the horror when she jumped into the fish tank, causing a mini tsunami over the sofa - miracuously Paul, the goldfish rescued form being flushed down next door's loo, survived AGAIN!

So do goldfish have nine lives? or is it just that they can't remember dying?

I'd offer Jaffa but I really don't think I could manage without him.  I need one well behaved cat around the place!

Ok - no need to rub it in!  :P

  I'm having visions of your mini-tsunami  :evillaugh:  So glad Paul survived  :)

Ruth I'm afraid Lukey is not included in the deal, of course I love them equally but he is just so 'good' compared to Riley.  Maybe he's just a bit simple but he hasn't ever gone on the worksurfaces, the table when I'm eating or in fact at all, he doesn't take any interest in the front door, I have never once been woken up by him, he will just lay there and the second I come round (normally after hours of having my head chased under the duvet and pillows by Riley :innocent:) he'll rush over for a tummy rub.  He's not completely perfect though, if I had to moan about something it would be his pitiful 'kitty milk' meow.  It's not a normal meow, it's very needy and you can almost hear him saying 'kiiiiiiiiiiiiiiittttttttttty miiiiiiiiilk'.

Still interested in a swap  :tired:  Any cat considered, age/size/colour/sex not important  :evillaugh:

Last night was the final straw - he has an obsession with getting in the wardobe so I bought a child lock which is a bit like a cable tie (that lets you undo it) that keeps the doors shut.  At around 4am he realised he couldn't get in the wardobe anymore so he managed to open two of the drawers that are in the bottom of the wardrobe and squeezed in the cavity behind the, now open, drawers.

As I got up he made a little 'I'm trapped' squeaking sound, I called him and shook his favourite treats, even putting a few in the drawer to see if he could drag himself out to get them.  No matter how hard he tried to get out he couldn't he was stuck!  The drawers don't come out fully so had to get the tool kit out and dismantle them at 4am to free him  :tired:

I'd have been tempted to leave him there at that hour!!   naughty riley, Smidgen will tell you the only drawer worth breaking into is the one where meowmy keeps the dog food!!

Ruth

He may not sleep through the night, but I do!  I've been using an auto feeder for several months now, it's bliss  - no more early morning wake up calls.  They're both good as gold now, when I wake up they are both sleeping snuggled up together at the end of the bed, as soon as they see I'm awake they both rush up to me for cuddles  :Luv:

Hi nice Helen-lady :) My meowmy sez I can come and live with you ;D I am a very good boy - I don't wake my meowmy until 6am, and then I like to get into bed for a cuddle until 7am, when I kiss her with my cold wet nose to ask for my breakfast. I sleep most of the night except between 3.30am and 5am, when I have to chase my girl-cat Skye. I am a very polite boy, and I sit nicely to ask for treats, I also scratch on my tree to ask for food or to ask to play. I nevver scratch any furniture or curtains, and I sleep about meowmy's head at night, but I do cry to get into the bedroom, which I'm not allowed into until 8pm.
I like to sit on top of the fridge, kitchen wall units, and my cat tree. I can trill and make lots of noises that make my meowmy smile. I like to scare the fish and knock things off the table, and last night I broke my daddy's bedside lamp, but it was Skye's fault really.
Meowmy sez I can come live with you because I am a good boy and since I am called Riley too, you won't have to get used to a new name ;D

Riley

I would be happy to exchange Franta, he is cuddley and loves attention but does no damage except to Sasa who is out in the rain somewhere and has been for hours.  :(

Franta has scared her so much by just sitting there! He hasnt hurt her or anything as far as I know but I want my Sasa back in the house.

Keep up the good work Riley - really proud of you matey.  You should try what I did the other night.  I waited until my mum was asleep, climbed on top of the wardrobe next to her bed and jumped on her head.  Oh what a laugh I had.  She even gave me a cuddle cos she thought I might have hurt myself jumping down like that.......... got her well trained.  :naughty:  :Luv2:

Not sure mine qualified as well behaved either but they are cute ginger rascals aged almost 2- Lou & Andy!
Andy has just had cystitis & now I can get the tablets down him (thanks mainly to your tips!) they're back to being lunatics.
They've already "killed" the Da Bird I got them for Christmas & are on the second attachment.  I hid the 1st on in the kitchen cupboard in case of emergency.  This morning I could hear them running around playing as usual & thought nothing of it - went downstairs & discovered the cupboard had been opened (& closed again!), they'd knocked the food sachets all over the floor & the dead Da Bird has vanished!!  We have suspicions it's under the fridge freezer as they keep trying to get underneath it!
If the attachment works here they are looking like butter wouldn't melt!

Sooo many tempting offers  :sneaky:  Ginger Riley would be the easiest swap as no new name to remember but by all accounts he's just as bad as the grey one  :innocent:  Have to rule the guinea pig out I'm afraid Yvonne  :evillaugh:  All the other names - Rameses, Lexy, Mosi, Franta, Bonnie, Lou & Andy (veeeeery tempted by these two, sort of a 2 for 1 deal) and Milly - will be placed into a special prize draw.  Winner/s to be announced soon  :wow:

Does Rameses want to come over here and packy my bags for me so I don't have to? I have yet also to sort food out for the dog and cats so that they are getting what they are supposed to get but which is stored in a way that they get it when they are supposed to get it. If i leave it out for the cat-sitter they will just scoff the lot!! little piggies.

Auntie Helen

You know you want me really.  I have very snuggly fur and make up for my naughtiiness by being cute and snuggly at least some of the time every day.  Don't believe meowmy when she says I'm the naughtiest boy ever.  I'm not.  This morning I woke her up really gently by patting her on the cheek with my paw.  Even meowmy admitted that was cute.  Please pick me.

I would like to throw my hat erm da birdie in the ring, I am a respectible black and white boy 3yrs old, I sleep right through the night and if you get up for the loo in the night I come and jump on your lap then escort you back to bed, during the day I like to bring you gifts of mice real and stuffed  :Luv2: I like Perle Gourmet food about 4/5 times a day and a bowl of crunchies every day, I dont want to sit on your lap and I dont want you to rub your hands on my body but you may tickle my ears and chin I dont climb curtains, scratch furniture or stuf like that, I like a nice fluffy blanket beside a radiator and window where I can recharge my batteries and dream the day away. And if you behave yourself I will give you a cuddle during the night and purr at you until about 8am
